Well I guess that's it for #MagicEarth - they seem to have enshittified it to require a paid subscription in order to work with Android Auto.

Since I'm not aware of any other auto navigation app that takes real-time traffic into account, I'll probably go crawling back to Google Maps.

Wat jammer, de onverwachte veranderingen bij navigatie-app #magicearth. Ik koos ervoor i.v.m. privacy. Nu niks als foutmeldingen. Uit recensies begrijp ik dat er nu bovendien een tarief op zit. Dat laatste is niet per se verkeerd. Maar dan wel accurate klantinfo graag, en een goed werkende app.

#MagicEarth hat mit dem aktuellsten Update ein Bezahlmodell eingeführt.
Gut, dass man sowohl Programm als auch Lizenz unabhängig von Google beziehen kann.
Leider bekomme ich den QR-Code nicht gescannt und den Link nicht in der App aktiviert.
Hat da jemensch Erfahrungen inzwischen?

I just checked out the new #magicearth update and while I prefer the older ui they did fix the map so it actually respects my option to use 2d map instead of 3d one.
But I don't know how I feel about the update and I might consider switching if I don't like it. Might just get used to it

Je confirme ce que dit @sebsauvage, troublante ressemblance avec #Waze et perte d'un certain nombre de choses, même en version Premium, telles que de nombreux styles de cartes.

Avant, j'aimais franchement l'UI de #MagicEarth, par-dessus celle de #OsmAnd… mais là, ça pourrait s'inverser. Malgré tout, la supériorité de Magic Earth est la prise en charge des embouteillages (énorme plus) et assez complète et fiable des transports en communs.

Rest in peace, #MagicEarth! Seit fast zehn Jahren warst du nun meine bessere, freie Alternative zu den kommerziellen Navi-Apps. Und jetzt das! Über Nacht völlig neu geworden, anderes Logo, und gleich nach zwei Klicks die Aufforderung, doch bitte die Premium-€-Funktion freizuschalten - nicht für neue Funktionen, sondern für all das, was all die Jahre lang kostenlos war. Nächste Woche hätte ich dich mal wieder gebraucht. Aber so sicher nicht.

Falls jemand #MagicEarth nicht mehr nutzen möchte, da es nun kostenpflichtig ist, der kann auch mal #NUNAV ausprobieren. Das wird im Deutschland entwickelt und bietet ebenfalls Stau Umfahrung. Leider keine offline Karten. Der Support reagiert schnell.

Alternativ gibts auch noch mapycom mit Stau Umfahrung und offline Karten. Die sind allerdings kostenpflichtig. Dort reagiert der Support aber auch schnell auf Anfragen.

That's not terrible, honestly. #MagicEarth's model used to be selling the mapping capacity to businesses, so I'm not sure why they pivoted to freemium.

Not upgrading. Traffic-aware navigation is now under a paid tier. Not sure if it was traffic-aware before.

I liked the app because it was a nice middle ground between #CoMaps and GOOG maps.

Not hating on them for going freemium, though. They could have just done what everyone else does, and sold out their users' data.

Ich bin eigentlich von #OSMAnd auf #MagicEarth umgestiegen, weil mir #OSMAnd schon in der freien Version viel zu mächtig, und #MagicEarth sehr einfach zu bedienen war. Daher nutze ich nun momentan CoMaps. Aber vom Können und Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist #OSMAnd in meinen Augen bisher unschlagbar.

@shikiryu @sebsauvage Salut, on peut acheter une clé de licence annuelle directement depuis leur site. Une adresse mail est nécessaire. Sur l'application, pas besoin de créer de compte, il est possible de rentrer la clé de licence. #MagicEarth

@Beryl @breizh @sebsauvage Et oui, c'était trop beau pour continuer à être vrai... :( En faisant la mise à jour, j'ai vu à quoi ressemblait #MagicEarth. Un copain à qui j'avais recommandé l'app m'avait averti que sur son Iphone c'était devenu payant depuis juillet. Alors je me doutais que cela le deviendrait sur Android. J'aurais problablement payé pour continuer à l'utiliser dans l'ancienne version; mais pas avec cette nouvelle. Désinstallée, je la remplace par CoMaps. ;)

I wish more apps had welcome screens (and privacy policies) like #MagicEarth.
