Fleetwood Mac, In London [1968], 2010 on Lilith
This is a bootleg that’s been released under a number of names – originally “London Live ’68” on Thunderbolt records. It was recorded at the Polytechnic of Central London, April 27th, 1968 – just a few months after their debut album.
Lineup here is Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie. It’s not the greatest sound recording (as expected) but does give you a sense of what it would have been like to be in that room for the very beginnings of the British Blues version of Fleetwood Mac.

20 and counting albums that have had an impact on who I am. One album a day for 20 days and then some. Might include explanations and reviews, always album covers. In some kind of order, or not.

And you come creeping around, making me do things I don't want to do"

Fleetwood Mac, The Pious Bird of Good Omen, 1969 on Blue Horizon
This is the earlier, Peter Green led, British Blues Fleetwood Mac, and collects their first four non-album UK singles and their B-Sides. It serves as a pretty good intro to what that first-stage Fleetwood Mac was all about.

The prompt is Play
Fleetwood Mac, "Then Play On" 1970
Once upon a time, before the cocaine, before the grafting on of incongruous singer/songwriters, #FleetwoodMac was a British #BluesRock band led by #PeterGreen's heavy #guitar.
The latter-day American version of the band was just some polyamorous collective, still supported by the husks of founding members / #RhythmSection #MickFleetwood and #JohnMcVie, who sent out audio diaries to an adoring public that…well, I just don’t understand.
On Then Play On, their third studio album, we have some quieter, #folk-tinged tracks that make the album, though rooted in blues, sound very English. My favorite track, the guitar-heavy Oh Well, was not on the original 1969 release, but with some track shuffling, was added to the 1970 US release.
Great new Fleetwood Mac compilation out today, highlighting the transitional period of 1969 to 1974. If it weren’t for Bob Welch, FM might not have lasted until the Buckingham/Nicks era. 👍 #FleetwoodMac #BobWelch #PeterGreen #Qobuz

John Mayall, the man who pioneered the British Blues movement, died yesterday at the age of 90. Look back at six decades of quality music and oftentimes you will find less than three degrees of separation between what you are listening to and John Mayall.
Here is just one example.
