Demonstrating Problem Solving: Kinetic Energy and Work

So, I have a problem. For the top of the sideboard I used obeche wood but the walnut veneer is too strong for it and has pulled it up (red arrows). The veneer has also split (green arrow). I think the only option is to do this again with plywood or another craft wood which has more structural integrity. If I use plywood I will have to cut a strip of veneer to cover the front edge. (This will need to be a contrasting veneer as there’s not enough spare from my first batch). This is how real veneered sideboards are done, but it is adding another quite tricky thing mid-project. I think I can use the slightly bent top in the construction of the base, so all is not lost. #DollsHouse #ProblemSolving

A curved piece of modelling wood lifting off the larger block it sits on. It’s clearly not flat enough to be assembled into my model furniture.A piece of wood on top of which sits a curved piece of modelling wood with veneer glued on which has contracted after gluing and sanding cracked. Two green arrows point to the cracks.

I'm glad to see this - I think #GeorgeHornedo nailed it:

"In one phrase: how do we align the scale of our solutions to the scale of our challenges?” Hornedo said. “I don’t care if a solution is up into the left, up into the center, up into the right. I just care that we’re moving up and actually doing a better job of trying to meet people’s needs in solving these challenges.”

When asked if the party has an internal ideological struggle and which side he’s eventually on, Hornedo dismissed the framing.

“I’ve been called a dem socialist, I’ve been called a moderate. My answer to that is: ‘Call me whatever you want, just call me effective.’”

Tulane University: New Tulane study finds generative AI can boost employee creativity—but only for strategic thinkers. “The employees who benefited most weren’t just using ChatGPT passively. They were actively thinking about how to approach their work, what problems they were trying to solve, and how best to use AI to support their goals. In short, they were skilled at managing their own […]

Are you a specialist or a generalist? Here are some advantages I've experienced of being a generalist in a world full of specialists.

I Don’t Solve Problems. I Reroute Systems.
A “problem” is often just outdated structure.

I don’t panic when things break. I trace patterns. I rebuild. Solutions live in system design, not struggle.

🎉🎈 Ah, yes, the art of "meta prompting" — because why write prompts when you can have a Large Language Model do it for you? 🤖 Apparently, the key to success is using AI to automate even the act of thinking itself. 🙄 Instead of solving the blank page problem, it seems we've just invented the blank thought problem. 🧠💤
