Auf einem dunkelbraunen, runden Holztisch steht eine längliche Kuchenplatte aus Schiefer. Darauf befinden sich fünf verschiedene Kuchenstücke sowie ein Plätzchen und ein Marshmallow.
Von oben beginnend thronen folgende Stücke auf der Platte:
- Flan pâtissier (ein recht hohes Stück Kuchen, bestehend aus einem dünnen Mürbeteigboden und -rand sowie einer etwa 5 cm hohen Puddingschicht, die mit einer gut gebräunten Haut abschließt)
- Caramel Shortbread (ein Mürbeteiggebäck in Kuchenform; zwei Schichten buttriger Mürbeteig, gefüllt mit meinem Karamell, verziert mit Streifen desselben Karamells)
- Schokotarte mit in Rum flambierten Bananen (auf einem Mürbeteigboden befinden sich die Bananenscheiben, darüber befindet sich eine etwa 1 cm dicke Schicht Schokoladenganache)
- Birnen-Mandel-Tarte (mit Vanille und Zitrone pochierte Birnenhälften betten sich in eine Mandelcrème auf buttrigem Mürbetwigboden; verziert mit Mandelblättchen)
- Sacher Shortbread (zwei Schichten Schokoladenmürbeteig, gefüllt mit Aprikosenkonfitüre, verziert mit Edelbitterschokolade sowie kleinen rosafarbenen Schokoladenherzen)
- links zwei Mandelplätzchen, die mit einem Pistazienkaramell zusammengesetzt sind und rechts ein Marshmallow mit Karamell.
Hinter dem Tisch steht ein schwarzer Ledersessel mit einem kleinen Kissen im Rückenbereich. Das Kissen trägt einen Aufnäher in Form eines Cupcakes mit einer Kirschverzierung.

Happy Burns Night! Didn't remember in time to have the makings for haggis around, but I can always make a batch of Scottish-style shortbread. Went with the open bottle of Inchgower 18, bottled (jeez) 30 years ago for the dram.

Now I'm sitting down to watch a great Scottishish film, "Local Hero".

Recipe follows. For Friendsgiving last night I baked these lovely toasted almond flour #shortbread thumbprint #cookies, and made them #GlutenFree! Apricot or raspberry preserves filling them. Lovely crunchy treat!

Maybe less almond extract next time. I also used browned butter and re-added water via weighing out the exact amount of ice needed to replace the lost water content and used the paddle in my mixer to stir and re-emulsify the water and fat.

Two baking sheets rest on a stove top. The closest outer corners are cropped due to the photo angle but there's 18 volcano-shaped cookies on each tray. The one on the left has an orange tint in the center of each cookie as a round gem of baked apricot jam, and the tray on the right has the same but a deep dark rich red from the baked raspberry jam. All the cookies are dusted with powdered sugar, like a light snowfall.

After much deliberation, I have decided to share my secret recipe for all-butter shortbread. Consider it a gift from me for the holiday season.

All-butter Shortbread recipe

Ingredients:
16 oz. butter, divided in two

Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Grease a 9-inch cake pan with butter and set aside.
Combine the butter with the butter in a stand mixer and beat until uniform.
Transfer to prepared cake pan and distribute dough as evenly as you can along the bottom.
Chill the pan with the dough for 10 minutes in the freezer.
Once chilled, place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 5 to 10 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
Remove from oven and let cool completely before serving.

The #video #music creates a sense of urgency not #heritage or #relaxing with a #cuppa & shortbread. The #marketing apparently worked for them but I don't want to pay extra on anything for the fuss of the #rebrand 'trend.
