Fans of Adafruit may recall a couple of months ago that one of the key people at the company made a series of posts on social media (including Mastodon and BlueSky) that looked awfully like online harassment. Besides some unprofessional stuff like name-calling, there were more serious accusations such as transphobia and doxxing.
Now, it seems there's been a falling-out between Adafruit and SparkFun Electronics. SparkFun has taken things seriously enough that they've ceased their business relationship with Adafruit. Here's the Official Response from SparkFun, citing a direct violation of their Code of Conduct:

This is bad news for Adafruit, since SparkFun is a major supplier of electronic components, tools, and devices. SparkFun also manufactures their in-house range of products, as well as having the scale to manufacture products for other companies such as Teensy. It's potentially fatal for Adafruit to get cut-off from SparkFun.
The response from Adafruit has been confusing. Rather than explain how or why they destroyed their business-relationship with SparkFun, they made a public statement announcing they'll soon cease selling Teensy devices: "Discontinuing the Teensy at Adafruit" (https://blog.adafruit.com/2026/01/12/discontinuing-the-teensy-at-adafruit/)
To make matters even more strange and confusing, Adafruit announced they're making a Teensy-knockoff^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^hcompatible board.

I think it's fair to say that Paul Stoffregen, who runs/designs/engineers Teensy, has shown remarkable restraint since being dragged into this drama and having it jump tracks and go careering outrageously onto the Teensy forum.

Тут есть два смесителя: первый аналоговый, второй цифровой. Аналоговый смеситель снимает FM сигнал с несущей. Цифровой смеситель подстраивает цифровой гетеродин на конкретную радиостанцию. Это классический гетеродинный приемник.

Final fix: add zabbix user to i2c group on Pi, Respberry, to get #Sparkfun sensor to answer the call.
Reading the source code briefly, it seems feasible? The code (as you'd imagine) opens the file, checks a few things, and then reads in chunks that it sends to the decoder for output.
The key would be getting around that. Can I have the main board read from a URL? Sure. But then send that to the MP3 shield seems plausible. I'd have to see what kind of communication it's capable of.

I've gotten back into tinkering with these things, and am working on some little projects. One thing I found in a drawer full of various parts was a #SparkFun MP3 Player Shield. Which opens some fun possibilities.
It's designed to play from a MicroSD. Which is cool. However, I'd like to see about streaming internet audio. I can't find anything on doing this.
I know it can handle reading a file, decoding the mp3, and sending it to audio out. Can that file be a file-like object that something else is sending the streamed mp3 from @somafm or something?
I've found the library folks recommend for using this shield, and have not dug into the source. I feel like it *should* be possible, even if I have to hack the library to make it work.
Has someone done this already?

SparkFun Retired Products Archive Reference
In late 2024, SparkFun Electronics relaunched their website. They deleted roughly 20 years of archived product information, along with all associated datasheets, schematics and tutorials. Luckily, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has good records of the site, and I was able to recover links to 5934 deleted products. So here's the list:
