@randomwizard I've thought about doing this with akalabeth, porting it to a more modern code base. Even ultima I was mostly applesoft BASIC also.

@carlwheezerr Yes, I kind of regret not taking a photo or two in the airplane so we could compare them. It was cool to recognize some of the landscape features in his photos, though.

Received my copy of #Penult in #cartridge form today. It's a #demake of #ultima for the #Atari2600, an #OpenWorld #RPG, I'm amazed that a game like this can run on my original 1977 #VideoGame machine. It was cutting edge to run Ultima on an #apple2 when it first came out in 1981. It even comes with an official cloth map. Super cool, thanks to #AtariAge and the developer. Maybe I should get it running in VR :-) Does anyone know where I can get an #Atarivox so I can save my game.

Here is the flight path that was broadcast by the onboard #radio

The balloon payload has a parachute attached, so when the balloon bursts, it falls back to the ground gracefully. He had to get a radio license to be able to broadcast position and data during the flight. If all else fails, you put contact info on the balloon, so if found, it could be recovered. He had a 20m antenna attached along with a GPS and a small go pro camera and other sensors. He did all the planning, design, and code himself with a lightweight payload. Something to keep him busy while he looks for a job after graduating. He'd like to find something in the space industry but not weapons related. It's not been so easy.

My son recently launched a #WeatherBalloon with a #camera and some instruments. This #photo is from about 30km up just before the #balloon burst. It's really cool that you can begin to see the curvature of the #Earth from this height and see the darkness of #space. I was on an airliner in this area on the same day and saw some of the same clouds and frozen rivers & lakes my son captured in his photos.

This #staircase #architecture at the federal police station in #SaoPaulo #brazil reminds me of the #television #series #silo. It's a bit smaller than the one on #TV, but it's fun to walk up and down it and get a feel as to what it would be like to live in the silo :-)

#Photo I recently took of a #sunset over #SaoPaulo with #Venus and the #Moon visible. It's hard to convey how big they looked in the #sky from my apartment balcony. There is even a shadow from one of the clouds visible, which highlights the purple skys we sometimes get here at dusk.
