The white and green combination is absolutely stunning here, especially with antennae in pure white.

Large and small whites have a slightly yellow and grey cast. The orange tip is a brilliant white.

Edit: in total, I have seen about 30 so far this year. Part of a pattern of a major bounce-back this year compared with last.

Lots of greenfinches and chiffchaffs. This afternoon a Green Woodpecker and a Greater Spotted Woodpecker. Ground beetles active today.

Found a salt marsh moth, they are so stunning.

Identification of these little wasps is tricky, but I learned from a parasitic wasp specialist on iNaturalist that this one is actually some kind of Campopleginae, a different subfamily of Ichneumonid. They’re usually also koinobionts feeding their larva on moth caterpillars

This Phytodietus solitary wasp is an koinobiont ectoparasitoid, which means that it will not inhibit the growth of its host on which it feeds from the outside, but it will eventually kill it nevertheless. They target leaf spinning caterpillars of micro-moths, which provide a semi-concealed hideout for their cocoon and after they pupate they make a meal of them leaving nothing but their skin.
