Yesterday we set off on a discovery tour to agricolART in Alessandria.

It was wonderful to meet so many super-talented (young) artists from the fields of illustration, comics, manga, etc. at this small indie art fair. We had plenty of time to talk to some of these artists about their projects and buy a few souvenirs.

It's so important to support these individual artists in this age of mass consumption and uniform goods. Thanks to the organizers for this great opportunity.

Done - my first German-language "Godot Fundamentals" course took place last week. Further advanced courses are already planned.

This marks another milestone in the restructuring of my training offerings towards FOSS:
In addition to "Blender for Production" now also "Indie Game Development with Godot".

The annual Confuoco "U Cunfögu" on Piazza La Pietra (Ciàssa Véggia) is celebrated every year before Christmas in Pietra, just like in many other Ligurian communities.

In addition to the lighting of a laurel tree fire (Il ceppo di Oibâ) on Piazza Vecchia (Ciàssa Véggia), where, according to tradition, you can take a look into the coming year, the performances of the music groups and the gruppo storico "Jus Tenens" with their great costumes and drums are the special highlight for me.

While it is still really warm down here by the sea, you can get a lot of fresh air in the high mountains directly behind the coast. So we took the time again and went on a short trip with Bailey to Ormea. After our traditional morning caffè, focaccia and brioche in Ormea with its narrow, shady streets, we first hiked up to the Castello and enjoyed the great view over the valley.

Then we went into the forest and the banks of the Tanaro, the mountain river that flows through the valley here. The water is really cool and pleasant even in midsummer. And we all love swimming and splashing around…

So nice to have the sea side and the mountains so close to each other.

Every year on July 8th, the festa patronale di San Nicoló and a procession takes place in Pietra in honor of the patron saint of the city, San Nicolò. According to legend, an apparition of St. Nicholas of Myra on July 8th, 1525 ended the plague epidemic that was raging at the time. The vow to build a church was also fulfilled. Today, the Basilica of San Nicolò can be found in the beautiful center of the city.

In honor of San Nicolò, many groups from Pietra and surrounding places process through the city with large and heavy, magnificently decorated crosses and the many people waiting for them. The bearers do a great job, as they weigh between 70 and even more kilos.

A statue of San Nicolò is also carried, which is raised three times at sea to bless the fishermen and their work at sea.

The best thing about this event is the communal and happy atmosphere of this festival to ask for blessings for the city, the people and the sea. Always an experience.

In addition to the more comfortable Bagni with sandy beaches and a good supply of panino and coffee, the Ligurian coast impresses just a few bays further on with steep cliffs, a magical view and lovely natural beaches.

Wonderful Liguria. Shortly before the (hopefully numerous) arrival of guests from Germany and all over the world, Karin and I decided to take another nice short trip right outside our front door.

A relaxed morning on the sea with a beautiful sailing boat from Velamania (Finale Ligure).
It was an indescribable feeling to feel the wind, watch the sails and notice how the boat picks up speed. Such an elegant way to move. Pure silence and relaxation and so close to nature.

As a highlight, our brilliant skipper Alessandro dropped anchor in the small bay "Baia dei Saraceni" with Swimming and a delicious aperitivo.

So if you're ever in the area, we highly recommend it... such a relaxing way to explore this wonderful coast.

We'll be setting sail again soon ⛵️, check ✅.
