After a good nights sleep at the quiet Pasterzenhaus, an auxiliary building to the Glocknerhaus, we were welcomed by warm sunlight in the morning on the fifth day of our crossing of the Alps. About roughly 90 minutes into the tour we reached the Obere Stockerscharte with a perfect view back onto the Glaciers. From there on we saw many marmots on both sides of the hiking path - unfortunately no good photos! - till we reached the Salmhütte. After we refilled our stomachs and continued for a another one and a half hour, we ended the hike in the early afternoon at the Glorer Hütte (2642 metres).

We start the hike at 08:45. Some areas around the Pasterzenhaus/Glocknerhaus are still in the shadows as the sun has not yet risen high enough. In the distance we can see the first intermediate target of todays hike - the Obere Stockerscharte.

I look towards Pasterze and Margaritzenstausee. The Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße can be clearly seen on the other side of the reservoir.

I point at a small white sign which reads "Obere Stockerscharte 2501 metres". In the background the Pasterze can be seen. The Großglockner on the left is covered in clouds.

Outdoor seating at the Salmhütte at 2644 metres. A single man sits on the benches and enjoys the vista. The Salmhütte actually consists of two houses side by side and a shed.

This gives perhaps a better idea of a lot of the terrain. Lots of peat bogs and groughs. But great to see the spring alpine flowers in abundance. Creeping azalea and Cloudberry.

Spring Gentian (Gentiana sierrae). Endemic to Spain's Sierra Nevada grows between 1800m and 3200m. Lucky enough to see loads of these beautiful flowers today in a high valley at 2300m

@berndchen Sehr schön! Mit Primeln ist hier leider gar nicht viel los... Kann aber ein Bild aus den Rockies bieten: Parry's Schlüsselblume (Primula parryi). Leider war das Licht extrem intensiv und ich müde von Kraxeln und Höhenlage (etwa 3500m). Da war mir nicht so richtig nach perfektem Motiv suchen. Aber es ist eine Primel, und die Farbe ist auch etwa ähnlich 😉
