#Autostakkert

Finally got around to updating my #AutoStakkert and #WaveSharp programs for processing lunar/planetary images.

Here's one of the lunar crater Copernicus (93 km diameter) #FromTheArchives newly-processed -

Just published a video of my post-processing steps for solar images to my YouTube channel! I'm happy to answer any questions and if you have suggestions, I'd love to chat. Feel free to drop a comment on the video or this post.

Emil Kraaikamp released a beta version of AutoStakkert!4 a few days ago. This is the first release since 2018 and I'm super excited! I did a demo of it in this video:

Today's sun through some remnant smoke (from way out west!).

stack (best 50% of 1000 frames) and processing with and .

Round yellow-orange disk of the sun fills the image view. There are a couple small flame- like prominences coming off the edge. On the surface there are some dark lines of filaments, white active areas of plage and some dark spots.

Full disk solar image from a week ago.

Was a spectacular clear day but somewhat compromised by smoke from north western Canada (I'm on the far east coast!).

Some are faintly visible. My solar processing still needs work :=)

, and for processing and colourization. 70% of 1000 frames stacked.

Round disk of the sun against a black background. Yellow speckled surface (has been colourized from a monochrome image). This is a reverse image (white is black and vice versa).
Along the edge there are some small faint flame-like prominences. On the surface there are a few white squiggly lines which are filaments (loops of plasma extending from surface). There is a large black area which is plage (active area).

We lucked into a brief window of clear skies with just enough time to capture a few images of last night's blue supermoon.

In our rush, we accidentally took these as FITS instead of RAW, which made for an interesting editing process.

Imaging by @alex 9 /Sony a6300 (ISO 400) / Z61 (f5.9, 360 mm) /AM5 /ZWO asi120mm mini

My process:

This is a photograph of the moon, which appears as a luminous grey sphere marked by craters and other topographical features.

I have reprocessed the video of Jupiter and wow. I haven't used PIPP or RegiStax before but they sure made a difference :)

And also, the Great Red Spot is now visible on this photo! It has moved significantly compared to the photo in Stellarium.

I followed this guide:

And did a bit of color correction in GIMP afterwards.

(Previous version in reply.)
