- Obviously not the ones that actually matter like
id_rsaand/or some other private keys / certificates...
But like regular #SystemConfiguration files.
- In all seriousness noone should actually do this with a public
gitbut then again noone puts their Ansible public either.

What is everybody using for networked #Timemachine #backup these days?
I've been migrating from Big/US Tech due to #privacy reasons for a while. I use #Proton since 2021, #Mastodon since 2022, etc.
One of the things I was reluctant to change was my off-site #backup solution: #Backblaze B2.
Reason? Price. It costs me ~$2.50/month to store ~500GB.
I already knew what to switch to: #Hetzner Box.
But it costs €3.87/month flat for 1TB. So I was waiting for my "stuff" (mostly photos) to grow enough to be worth it.
Today I decided to put my money where my mouth is!
Does anyone use #Dropbox these days? Was thinking about it recently. Has always been reliable for me over the years but just never thought about it for some reason, versus the other syncing stuff like Carbonite and whatnot. Someone told me recently that it had metadata issues but that won't affect me. Curious as to whether it's no longer held in any regard or whether it is. It's sure stood the test of time. Unsere #Instanz wächst und wächst. Kürzlich hatten wir unser zwei-jähriges Jubiläum. Wir haben aktuell 224 trötende #Rüssel hier auf unserer Instanz und das bedeutet, dass unsere Instanz mit eine der erfolgreichen Instanzen im #deutsch sprachigen Raum geworden ist.
Das bedeutet aber auch, dass der Instanz #Server einiges zu leisten hat. Er muss performant bleiben und er muss groß genug sein, um die ganzen #Tröts mit ihren #Medien wie #Bilder und #Videos zu speichern. Auch der #Backup-Server muss entsprechend dimensioniert sein. Das alles kostet viel #Geld im #Monat, das ich vollständig aus der eigenen #Tasche bezahle.

We backup a few petabytes of research data, including home directories. We apply inode and size quotas to keep users in check but they are quite generous quotas.
We have 1 billion files backed up.
I convinced the #storage guy to put a regex to exclude conda pkg caches from the #backup.
Turns out that reduced the backup by. 100 MILLION files. Calling that a win

Recién la encontré y funciona virtualmente igual que CocoCut. Todavía no llegué a ninguna limitación, pero no quiere decir que no la tenga.
Históricamente yo usaba *VideoDownloadHelper* que traía un companion nativo para Linux con el que podía descargar más cosas y saltearse algunas limitaciones, pero desde hace un tiempo no me detecta más ese companion, y el plugin de Firefox solo no puede descargar ni un video de YouTube, así que no sé qué onda.
Si conocen algunos más, pasen el dato.
