#DIYLoop

It looks like as of Sunday, the initial work to get the Tandem Mobi working with AAPS is done and going into testing. As of now, it'll only do basic oref0 (TBR).

They're kicking up private testing for now so it's not widely available yet.

Congrats to jwoglom and AndyRozman on Discord for their hard work! It's great to see progress!

In my adventures with Meshtastic, I acquired a Sensecap Tracker (T1000-E) that I carry with me.

In the DIY loop community of diabetes, many people use an old Medtronic insulin pump that communicates over the 915MHz band, similar to LoRa. This requires using a bridge device such as RileyLink, OrangeLink, EmmaLink, and maybe others.

I think these are all closed source though. Someone made an open source firmware called GNARL which runs on earlier LoRa hardware, though, proving this could work.

It made me realize, among all the devices these diabetics have access to for their bridge, none of them are well designed nor well suited for carrying.

But the Sensecap Tracker is.

I just wish I had the knowledge to build up a firmware for it. The core platform isn’t the same as what GNARL is built for.

Luckily is still working, insulin is being delivered, whew. Just the remote monitoring is unhappy, maybe not able to talk to the mongodb for some reason.

uh oh, for monitoring blood glucose and pump activity is amazing... until it stops working and it has been literally like 9 months since I set it up?

@unicornCoder oh cool! I’ve got my daughter on . It’s been about 9 months, and so far it’s been good. I didn’t know the algorithm was created by a woman!

Anyone else on here into hacking insulin pumps? Figured I might as well ask…

@detreville yikes! I’m an Omnipod user but with Dash pods and or . It’s crazy that an FDA-approved system would have a bug like that. 😬

@TomLarrow Yikes. It’s great the is out and I know people are benefiting from it, but I’m in no rush to switch from .

@hellmart I agree! The Omnipod 5 in particular pissed me off. Omnipod promised iPhone support but then didn’t deliver. Makes no sense when and other DIY closed-loop systems have been supporting a variety of iPhones and Android devices for YEARS now.

@hellmart This is why I love with Dash- works with just my iPhone! Awesome to leave the house with just one device.

I just used an arm as an insulin pump site. It's surprisingly comfortable.

I now have an Omnipod Dash on my left arm and a Dexcom G6 on my right arm.

As a side note, I missed device nudity by merely 8 hours! I should have just pulled my sensor a tad early.

@Zarffyn@octodon.social i was shocked at how supportive my endo became of . I made the switch without telling her, she saw my numbers improve, and then let her in on my secret. She was cautious but acknowledged how much it had helped. And now she’s 100% on board and supporting multiple looping patients.

@derivadow The efforts have been nothing short of amazing. I have been DIYLooping for years now and it has been life changing. Even the commercial tech is where it is because so many amazing people volunteered their time and brain power to create these DIY systems. I wrote a little about my own journey recently.

Hi @McCulloch so what’s a we are on day 7 of a diagnosis in my six year old so on a steep learning curve. He has a CGM but no pump yet.

Oh, found the max temp basal increase in #AndroidAPS. This might help tighten up the closed loop a little bit. #DIYLoop is certainly a learning process, with a fairly steep initial curve, but it is so worth it to get over that hump. It is definitely starting to feel a bit easier. #T1D #T1Diabetes

Heya mstdn.ca - this is my first post, after moving instances. I wanted to join a server in my home country mostly to see more CanCon. 🤣
About me: I'm happily married, and a dad to one. We live in Vancouver, BC (since July '19) via ~Kitchener, Ont.
For fun, I love music; playing baseball with my kid; and learning about news, politics, science, technology and more.
I have #Type1Diabetes #T1D, and I use a CGM, an insulin pump, and #DIYLoop to mimic a pancreas. Yes, I'm technically part-machine!
