Linux-Dateimanager können ja direkt z. B. via SFTP auf Webspace zugreifen. Die Serververzeichnisse können wie lokale Ordner als Lesezeichen in die Sidebar des Dateimanagers abgelegt werden.
Auf diese Weise lassen sich sehr schnell Änderungen an einer Datei vornehmen.

vsftpd fills most of the requirements I was thinking of in my dream system. My client linkifies text, so any text file in an ftp directory can be a menu.

It does lack a form for running queries (filetype 7 in gopher).

Also I found a "bug" in Chawan: it doesn't display the ftp banner, which could contain a menu.

But no selectors! oof!
