Finally some #upcycling for old #gear: #MOTU UltraLite as digital mixer for rarely used #synths & #groovebox.es (Roland D-10, MC-101, Novation Circuit Tracks) - downmix with optional EQ / Comp > Stereo Input of my almost 20 year old RME Fireface 800 > 8 Stereo Inputs with the other synths > ADAT > RME Babyface FS. Now all outboard stuff can be recorded individually inside #LogicPro.

Now desperately trying to convince myself that more hardware is out of the question, and plugins are just fine.

After making #ElectronicMusic, in some form, and playing in a band that has been centered around a #sequencer of some sort for over 25 years, I finally got my first "#groovebox" sequencer of my own, a #Synthstrom #Deluge. I've had a lot of different things that can sequence _or_ sample _or_ create synth patches but nothing that can do it all-in-one.

coming to the realization that, while the MPC LIVE 2 is a very capable machine for music making, I'm not sure it was the music making box I really wanted. It's pretty damn big and looking down at the screen all the time gets my neck hurting pretty early in a session. As a result I haven't used it much. Anybody have any recommendations on music gear that fits a similar role? Want something that is easy to pick up and start getting ideas out on that I can expand later in a DAW (rather than putting a whole DAW into the box a la the MPC) #grooveBox #musicProduction #musicGear

and then sometime later i plan to bolt on the old #sampler code onto the current #sequencer and achieve a #sampling #groovebox, resulting in 2 more binaries to be added to the suite in #tek 0.3.0

Checking the prizes of mk1 Digitakt and Digitone, it seems that now is the best time for getting #Elektron #groovebox pre-owned. Because mk2 has been released, its possible to get both the of these #instruments for the less than either of the mk2-s separately. And they still are supported by the Overbridge plugin that brings #multitrack #audio directly into the DAW via the USB cable. The way these instruments are built, these would probably last a long time.
