Do I know anyone who's ever tried to capture an ARM-based #apple #Mac using a capture card? I am running into the dreaded #HDCP issues that seem to be common with these and google's failing me for a solution.
Does using a #HDMI splitter still work for these cases or is there some kind of fancy tool to just disable HDCP for the duration? I'm not planning on capturing copyrighted material, it's just that this is on by default universally on macs for ... a reason that escapes me but I'm sure is very forward-thinking, magical and revolutionary. #streaming #contentCreation #hacks

@benbrown depends on your workflow.

• Personally, I have a dedicaded #HDMI #Recorder that does #1080p30, but I'd recommend to choose something that uses #USB-#UVC.

You can even use a #RaspberryPi with the #HDMI2CSI adapter board.

• OFC you propably need a splitter so the sending device gets a proper #EDID and doesn't negotiate the wron resolution.

Don't forget that cracking #HDCP is a legal no-no, but there's no way for anyone to find out...

1st time that I actually got a #DisplayLink dock working mostly acceptably... after using a DP to HDMI converter cable to not use its singular HDMI port. So either the port is bad or #HDCP was being a pain in the rear-end. Fingers crossed that this will survive reboots... 🤞

(I know one thing: my next laptop will be equiped with USB4 or Thunderbolt. DL is a crutch. And before you ask: the screens' DP connectors are already in use by my PC.)

I just wanted to continue watching The Fall Guy, which I bought from Apple TV. But both on my PC and on my Samsung TV I get an HDCP error in the Apple TV app. What the hell???? The film was still running the day before yesterday!!! 📽️ 🍿

Leider teilweise zäh vorgetragen, aber Inhaltlich dennoch interessanter #38C3-Talk, wie 2010 der #HDCP #MasterKey für das #DRM der #HDMI-#Video-#Schnittstelle u.a. aus #NVIDIA-#GPU-Hardware/Firmware extrahiert wurde.

Am besten gefällt mir die Stelle, wie der NVIDIA-#Security-Prozessor beim Versuch falsch signierten Code zu starten die korrekte bzw. erwartete Signatur einfach in einem Register vergisst, so dass man die Operation nur mit dieser Signatur restarten muss. 🤦

Cuz #bluray players do accept #BDROM discs from like those #miniBD #Camcorders...

• And even thos HD-DVD media and burners are basically #unobtanium these days, they should be able to use cheap #DVDROM since AFAIK most #DemoDiscs for HD-DVD were using #DVD media for cost savings as the #capacity of a #DualLayer-DVD is enough for the 15-30min looped #showreel footage and basically every HD-DVD drive I know does DVDs and CDs anyway so it's just #UDF 2.5 - ish.

And the whole "Copy Protection" - Pipeline with #HDCP & #AACS and the lice is only concerned about people duplicating #retail discs.

• Unlike #VideogameConsoles, these players were also #standalone & #offline-capable devices so #DRM like with the #Xbox360 and #XboxOne didn't really hapen,...

#HDCP is such a frustrating fucking standard — punishes legitimate consumers and does nothing to stop piracy. Everyone who worked on it, and especially the executives who pushed for and continue to mandate it, should feel bad.

Ellos mismos jodieron el #BD (#UHD también) con el #AACS (1 y el 2 con requisitos adicionales para lectores y grabadores), el requisito de instrucciones #SGX para reproducir UHD en ordenadores con procesador Intel, el #HDCP del #HDMI, códecs patentados y todas esas mongadas.

Es un estándar que ha buscado controlar toda la cadena desde el disco hasta el sistema operativo pasando por el computador que forma parte de la unidad lectora/grabadora de discos así como el procesador y chip gráfico del computador anfitrión.

En su día se utilizaron cintas de cassette para almacenar software porque era lo que se usaba para grabar sonido. Luego se utilizaron discos ópticos porque también se guardaba sonido en ellos. Más tarde vídeo. Y se aprovechó para aumentar las prestaciones. Pero no aprendieron de los #CD de música con #rootkit (por gentileza de #Sony) y decidieron meterle mierda extra.

Seit ich den 2006er TV ersetzt hab, bekomm ich den Ton von DVDs & BlueRays nicht mehr von der ps4 zum TV. Im Blindenmodus schon (läuft offenbar im GameMod?), aber nicht im Hauptfilm.
Scheint #HDCP Kopierschutz zu sein.
Jemand eine Idee?

@icedquinn Interestingly, #Intel did workaround that whole #HDMI assholeism by technically not implementing HDMI & #HDCP on their cards but only #DisplayPort and instead solder-down #DP-to-HDMI converter ICs for HDMI outputs...

Error message on Apple TV connected to a Samsung TV: “Disney+ has detected an HDCP issue that is preventing your content from playing. To resolve the issue, please try a different HDMI cable and/or bypass your stereo equipment by connecting the device directly to your TV.” Fix: With TV on, hold down the power button on the Samsung remote until you see it go off and then see the Samsung logo - kind of like a hard reboot.
