I've said it before and I'll say it again but more nuanced: "_Some_ mason bees are sloppy workers". Some tubes are closed off with the finesse I would not mind to see on my plastered walls. And others(?) just drop the food for their offspring on the doorstep. At least, the yellow stuff must be pollen originally meant for the offspring, right? Or has gold-colored plaster become a thing?

Found this Houdini fly (Cacoxenus indagator) lurking around one of my bee hotels today. They are kleptoparasites of mason bees (Osmia spp.) and are not native to North America. They are the number one reason why nesting tubes in my area (Pennsylvania) should be cleaned during the winter. In bee news, male Osmia are showing up at the insect hotel in my back yard (Swarthmore, PA, USA). The females never choose to use these tunnels, sadly, opting instead for the smaller, paper-lined cavities in the wood blocks. #InsectHotel #BeeHotel #MasonBees #bees #nature #pollinators #insects

Hey all,

I went to get into an old phone I'm using for a project bolted to my house and saw this. My first blush is this is a native bee group that setup shop in my phone.

Had to move move one of them off the arm for the receiver (hopefully he's not harmed and grows up big and strong) but anyone have any ideas here?
