A quotation from J. M. Barrie

“Why can’t you fly now, mother?”
“Because I am grown up, dearest. When people grow up they forget the way.”
“Why do they forget the way?”
“Because they are no longer gay and innocent and heartless. It is only the gay and innocent and heartless who can fly.”

J. M. Barrie (1860-1937) Scottish novelist and dramatist [James Matthew Barrie]
Peter and Wendy, ch. 17 “When Wendy Grew Up” [Jane to Wendy] (1911)

A quotation from Robert Louis Stevenson

As we go catching and catching at this or that corner of knowledge, now getting a foresight of generous possibilities, now chilled with a glimpse of prudence, we may compare the headlong course of our years to a swift torrent in which a man is carried away; now he is dashed against a boulder, now he grapples for a moment to a trailing spray; at the end, he is hurled out and overwhelmed in a dark and bottomless ocean. We have no more than glimpses and touches; we are torn away from our theories; we are spun round and round and shown this or the other view of life, until only fools or knaves can hold to their opinions.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) Scottish essayist, novelist, poet
Essay (1878-03), “Crabbed Age and Youth,” Cornhill Magazine, Vol. 37

A quotation from Robert Louis Stevenson

Because I have reached Paris, I am not ashamed of having passed through Newhaven and Dieppe. They were very good places to pass through, and I am none the less at my destination. All my old opinions were only stages on the way to the one I now hold, as itself is only a stage on the way to something else.

so many regrets, I wish I could turn back time.
so many situations where I wish I would have reacted differently. I owe many people apologies.
I am sorry,

After some serious trouble and research, a long pause thinking how bad I am at tying knots, and a lot of YouTube tutorials, I managed to get this done and I am not even sure how bad it is, because a voice inside my head is telling me it’s not right😅🥺
#Hakama, the black long skirt pants we wear in Aikido, and other martial arts, is the symbol of #maturity, #responsibility, #dedication and #humility. It is of course reserved for the higher ranked practitioners (Dan ranks) but in #Algeria, in some Dojos, we still wear it as part of the traditional outfit and also for girls as a modest and honor way to cover up, again not all Dojos do that.
Aaaaaanyways, back to the matter at hand, did you know, that in #Asian and #Japanese culture, before wearing your Hakama for the first time, you absolutely have to fold it!! And you know why? It’s actually a believed that only the dead get to wear unfolded clothes, meaning, when someone dies in Japan, they are dressed in a newly sewn garment that has never been folded before. So, folding the Hakama isn’t “just a tradition”, it’s a symbol of life, continuity and fresh new starts, I believe.
Of course every school ties it in a different way, I am not sure what I did here, but at least the strings aren’t hanging there, I guess I could call it a mini win, a cute win, a me-win 😁😅 so, here I present to you my Kari-hakama-fold 🙆‍♀️😁😅🤣🥺🙆‍♀️

A quotation from C. C. Colton

When young, we trust ourselves too much, and we trust others too little when old. Rashness is the error of youth, timid caution of age.

A quotation from J. M. Barrie

MRS. DARLING: (from the window) Peter, where are you? Let me adopt you too. (She is the loveliest age for a woman, but too old to see PETER clearly.)

PETER: Would you send me to school?

MRS. DARLING: (obligingly) Yes.

PETER: And then to an office?

MRS. DARLING: I suppose so.

PETER: Soon I should be a man?

MRS. DARLING: Very soon.

PETER: (passionately) I don’t want to go to school and learn solemn things. No one is going to catch me, lady, and make me a man. I want always to be a little boy and to have fun.

One thing I am learning the hard way is that you only understand what employers genuinely expect of you when you take working for yourself seriously, and focus on making yourself accountable in that recursive interaction.

In the last few months, I have been bossing myself for the creation of a job matcher in Germany and I honestly feel like I finally understand how to operate honestly and fairly in a work environment.

Tonight I found myself in a deeply unpleasant social situation: the kind of atmosphere where you feel more like a prop than a human being. It helped that I had a dear friend on tap who knows my empathy and sensitivity very well. Even five years ago, I would have reacted with hurt and anger. But I excused myself with peaceful class, grace, and dignity. And my friend said she was proud of me. We are taking back the night. And I didn't lose my shit.

I'm learning, folks. Slowly.

A quotation from Stevenson

To hold the same views at forty as we held at twenty is to have been stupefied for a score of years, and take rank, not as a prophet, but as an unteachable brat, well birched and none the wiser. It is as if a ship captain should sail to India from the Port of London; and having brought a chart of the Thames on deck at his first setting out, should obstinately use no other for the whole voyage.

is all about letting go of the need for revenge.

It’s about focusing on moving forward, healing, and embracing life.

By doing this, you can break the cycle and not end up like those who hurt you.
