today i finally got the macpro6,1 i use for #amateurRadio projects (i am mapping a school district's #NXDN system) sorted out with a user account for my 9yo and #Steam family sharing to install some of her favorite games like #Octogeddon on that workstation and stream it to the AppleTVs in her house and her iPad.
my particular trashcan6,1 #macPro is dual xeons and dual AMD Fire Pro D300s with 2 or 4GB of memory on each one. vintage mac for sure but it's just gorgeous inside and out, really. 1/2
I have a proposed idea for starting a #VK wide #DV net on the VK Nets Hub (50500) that I run, wondering if anyone be interested in a DV net on Sunday evening around 19:30ACST (10:00UTC), it be a mixed chat & technical net.
International station will also be more than welcome too

i have a #homepatrol2 #radio scanner here in philly for all the analog and p25 systems for PPD/Septa and there's a lot of #amateurradio on digital formats out here, even #WIRES and #nxdn.
in #iow its mostly #dstar and #DMR. every part of the united states has their own preferences, local customs in radio communications are pretty interesting. don't forget analog is spoken everywhere.
i submitted my first change to the #RadioReference Database crew to rename the talk group for Southest Jr. High to Southeast Middle. my 12yo got to change to a new school AND avoid being bottom of the stack cuz there's all those SIXTH GRADERS beneath her 😂
with school back there's an #NXDN system the district uses that I can listen to, the bus drivers were having a lot of fun on the first day 😂
I've had a fun day with ham radio today:
* change some settings on my ID-5100A for a few frequencies, #ID5100
* signed up for #NXDN
* configured my #WPSD hotspot to use #DMR 2 NXDN cross mode
* figured out #DroidStar on my #Android (to connect to NXDN)
I'm still working on:
* reducing #RFI coming in to shack, that seems to only be interfering with my space heater lol (need more ferrite chokes, maybe)
* make a few more contacts on HF today
I'm glad I found a day to spend doing HamRadio stuffs
