#NASA has a pair of #OCO carbon monitoring satellites. They have 10 years of baseline data, no global redundancy, and an unplanned, near-magic ability to monitor plant respiratory cycles. They can predict crop yields better than USDA techniques, and they can predict large scale #drought.
The program cost $750M to start up, costs $16M-17M annually. The US has budgeted $0, and plans to deorbit and burn these satellites.

Favorite part of the races in #Monaco were safety car restarts. The qualy was a banger except for the bit where #Verstappen spoiled the fun for everyone. So many unexpected interim results! #OCO's provisional pole was something.
