The World Under.

Time for a vertical version of this panorama. This time I did it without the Mercator projection style (which would make the image more square-ish). I might, though do that later if I get the time to 😬
The vertical rendition done with the spherical projection like in these two makes the image too slender (and often some cropping would be needed to the sides so it turns even slenderer); and sometimes platforms are hostile to such format **COUGH**IG**COUGH** ... ahem.
Anyway, as usual here, the first one was shot at F/8 and the second one was shot at F/2.8.

Noticed array, the absolute #panoramic #array of reports that I put out?🔦 It's not a big deal as long as you are not deer in the headlights. So back to code for code. In your thinking Let's do example that actually gets to three layers. That's a fractal and then you'll really get that it's worth it.

Twisted Thoughts

Still with our monkey panorama and this time with a "style" rather than a projection, and I don't usually do it much because... well... I don't find it surreal or creative enough - so I'll leave it to you to decide!
I personally call this style "Sinusoidal" (with apologies to people who hate math and trigonometry).
As the usual, the first one is the one shot at F/8 and the second one was shot at F/2.8. The one shot was F/8 actually does look more like a painting to me and I tried to change this aspect when I tone-mapped the original HDR, but details won't just be clear except with such parameters. Not saying it's bad, but it wasn't my original aim really.

A Gloomy Night Over Monkey Island.

Today, we have the 3rd "installment" of this panorama, and with what I call "tunnel view" (which essentially is just the reverse or the little planet projection). Funny thing that I've used the term "tunnel view" even before my diagnosis with Retinitis Pigmentosa back in 2013*.
Again with two versions here, the first being the original or first one shot at f/8 and the second was the one shot at f/2.8. The first one had this green cast and paint-like look that I couldn't adjust whatever and however I edited it. Maybe some would like the paint-like look (and at some point it is nice indeed) but I was aiming for more "dark" look so to say, and this is what the second version achieved.
_________
* One of the critical symptoms of Retinitis Pigmentosa is that the person would suffer from tunnel vision; but this is also relevant to the genetic mutation involved as some would lose the central vision instead, but the tunnel vision is probably the most common issue with people suffering from Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Again, with two versions, this time with a little planet style (man, such a lengthy process to do everything in two!).
The first one is one shot at f/8 and the second one is the f/2.8 version - and I do absolutely like the second one for its saturation and color blend (for some reason, I couldn't produce such a blend in the first one). Both of them, however, do suffer form that flare of street lights (specially above the monkey's head).
The problem with these lights (specifically the ones that appear above the monkey) is that they were so high and in the background. To make them disappear from the scene I'd have to be so close to the wall (the monkey) to some distance that would actually ruin the looks in general; beside the fact that the ground was somewhat uneven and not very suitable to stabilize a heavy tripod. In fact, the tripod did move a bit as I was working for 2 hours, and that produces some problems that I had to work on later.

Van Goghian Night.

So, in the past week I've been busy with a new panorama. This panorama was at the back of my head for like 2 years and decided to do it just now, after midnight.
Here you see two versions (I've shot the panorama twice on location). The first version was shot at F/8 and the second at F/2.8 (lowest f-number for this 15mm fisheye lens). I'm glad that I've shot it at F/2.8 - something I don't usually do because my instincts (typically) tells me to have more depth of field when making the panorama to keep everything within reasonable sharpness. However, the situation here was challenging and metering the light was hard on location (I've absolutely done it wrong). The problem with the F/8 (first one) version is that the lights had a strong flare and couldn't be controlled even when working with HDR. In addition to that, tone-mapping was somewhat tricky as well and a great deal had to be done in Photoshop later on to enhance the colors and details as I envisioned them. Despite that, I do like the moving clouds which reminded me of Van Gogh. On the other hand, the F/2.8 version is somewhat calmer and had less problems (though some other issues were there).
For the next few days, I'll be trying to post duals of this panorama for each projection style, if I can (hopefully).

Circularium Mercatus Nocturnus.

Now, finally (for the time being) with this projection which I think by now it should be a standard work for every panorama I make from now on; something I call a circularium (and that's a name I've invented really).
Though I did this format few times in the past but it wasn't an essential part in my workflow with panoramas like other formats (e.g. little planet). This format looks a bit like little planet but it has the corners transparent and makes the panorama more into the shape of a snow globe. Usually I save images of this sort in PNG to preserve the transparent background but typically platforms would convert that (rasterize) into black or white and the image is converted into JPG accordingly.
One thing I regret now is that I didn't add a glow around the globe here. Something I have to bear in mind for the future circulariums of this sort.

Under The Crescent.
Been a while since I used this projection. I call it the "wide view". Essentially, it's just a little planet with a change in the pitch (up and down tilt).
I was aiming to place the light pole at the center here but then noticed that the light signs make a nice curve like a crescent, so I started changing the orientation to make a crescent as perfect as possible. One thing annoys me here is the strong highlights coming from these halogen or whatever fixtures of light.

Good morning from Tokyo! Lovely January weather; chilly and bright. Here is the sunrise from my window, shot with the 65x24 app by @heliographe_studio. I like photographing my neighborhood like a landscape.

My Circus.

It's a bit chaotic with this projection style (hence the title). In the beginning, I've made a vertical panorama with the spherical style or coordinates, but it was too slim and would need more crop. So, I moved to Mercator style which can usually render a vertical panorama in a square format (or almost square). I've placed the gate of the playground as the main point of focus here. I would have done a twist (something I typically do with vertical panoramas) but the lack of some symmetry in the scene itself made such a task useless somehow, so I didn't bother even checking it out.

manhole.

Opposite to the little planet projection or style, comes the reverse, or what I usually call "tunnel view" projection, which typically looks like a view from the underground. I had to play around with the tone-mapping to accentuate the cracks in the ground, in addition to that, I've added a somewhat excessive amount of sharpening. The issue here is, though, the details at the center cannot be discerned (and I could've made it better before stitching but I was in a hurry) and the sole focus probably would be in this case on the surrounding cracks.

Planeta Mercatus.

Now that I've posted the "normal" version of the panorama, as I usually do, I'm going to post those surreal versions afterward, starting with the little planet.
One think I've probably overdone here is the blue/cyan tones. Actually, it should be a bit darker and bluer than this.
To give the scene a sense of "randomness" or "floating" I've purposefully made the light pole tilted in such a random angle instead of being upright or horizontally straight. More to come, and I'm working still to extract as much as possible from this panorama.

A Night At The Grocery.

I didn't do any panoramas for a while and I really felt happy doing this. I didn't expect much because the location is "mundane", but shooting at night changed everything. This is why I always say: Night photography is more interesting than daytime photography.
The clouds you see here are REAL even though they weren't visible to the naked eyes. Only when I reviewed the shots at home, I saw the clouds.
I was expecting the shoot to take a long time, but surprisingly it didn't.

To those who like the technical details, here we go: I shot this with 15mm (fisheye) which I always use for panoramas. On location, I've pointed the camera in the direction of the playground gate (on the right) and took a shot with a "white balance disk" to calibrate the WB; In such night scenes, I prefer to use a calibrated WB instead of picking my own unless there is a good reason to pick a specific WB (at night, I often use Tungsten or Fluorescent WB). The aperture was set to F/9. The exposure was somewhat a delicate issue here. I could've used the "Av" and let the exposure time vary, but I know this can be troublesome later when I make the HDR slides. So, I metered the light coming from the strongest light source in the scene and the darkest spot in the scene (the ground); the difference was 6 stops. Next, I've set the exposure to the middle value and set the camera to shoot in brackets of 3 stops (-3, 0, 3) to include that range of stops. Something I seldom do actually because most of the time I would shoot at (-2, 0, 2). With this done, I was still worried about the pitch black sky and how to stitch it later, and to my surprise, there were indeed some clouds hovering over me without seeing them! This said, I didn't pay attention to my shadow which caused some troubles later on as I processed the images.
