Building physical things based on variables (parameters in the #Fusion360 world) has been really interesting. When multiple designs rely on standardized measurements it really improves interoperability. I can design parts and know they will come together predictably. #Fusion360 #CAD #CAM #parametric

I've been in 3D modeling land to make #CAD models measured from real objects in my house. It's really helped when building virtual furniture. Also, #Fusion360 is pretty impressive. I'm going from design to render to manufacturing toolpaths in 1 tool. And I'm using a variable-based design system. #Parametric #Modeling

Pretty happy about the new symbolic workflow. While Matthias is still busy exploring the animation capabilities and some conventions need to be set for the advanced states, perhaps the parametric future isn't that far.

Since I've come across some camera lenses with missing caps, I've designed a #parametric model in #FreeCAD.

Just enter the filter thread size (and optionally thread pitch, spring width/thickness, and some other variables), et voilà: lens cap.

The first prototypes are already working quite well. The model just needs some minor tweaks before it is ready to be released into the wild.
