With seven elements, the dot could be the six-element symbol, but I've yet to find a good way to draw these.

Octagonal pavers that are almost rectangular, Hanga Roa, Rapa Nui (Easter Island/Isla de Pascua)

These pavers are widely used on pavements and roads in Hanga Roa. I don't think I've seen these shapes elsewhere (I didn't see many of the shapes that are common elsewhere).

Over the course of 2022-23, I accumulated several dozen 3D-printed (selective laser sintered nylon) prototypes for jewelry: Spheres banded by loxodromes, cyclides diagonally banded by images of great circles in the 3-sphere, annular portions of minimal surfaces and singular complex-algebraic space curves, and a few miscellanea. Here they are as ornaments for a holiday tree in anticipation of the solstice.

Ich hab nur etwa 25 Jahre gebraucht, um zu merken, dass ich das auch schon vor 25 Jahren hätte begreifen können, aber die (an sich simple) Mathematik hat mich ein bisschen abgeschreckt.

More things found while exploring the Mandelbrot equation. Pick a few points in a small circle and trace their orbits. Yellow dots are the actual calculated points, connected by a purple curve if the point eventually escapes, and green if it does not.

An aperiodic tessellation of the hyperbolic plane, found by Toimine in the #tessellations channel in the HyperRogue discord.

These tiles are equilateral, with edge length of 0.56358, which is less than the 0.56626 that was achieved by the regular {7,3} tiling (which was apparently the previous record for a tiling with equilateral convex tiles).

It is also possible to the connect two pentagons by their "bases" to obtain a funky variant of the {8,3} tiling. Then, we can play with the angles -- for "narrow" tiles, the edge length becomes even smaller, about 0.5436.

The animated visualization also shows some new cool features of the RogueViz expression parser: it can now automatically solve for the edge length which makes the tiling work for the given angle \(\alpha\)!

As described, my linocut print shows Lady Ada, based on engravings made during her lifetime, printed in purple, before gears of the Charles Babbage Analytical Engine, based on one of his blueprints, printed in bronze. Depicted around the gears are equations relating how to calculate Bernoulli Numbers.

Rule/Yule 30 cellular automaton with a "band-pass" filter every few iterations. Done in the Bash shell using bitwise math, so each row/state is a single number of 63 bits.
