AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup â November 2025
Introduction
Hi there,
Welcome to a new monthly roundup of AmigaOS 4 news!
Thank you for visiting my blog and for checking out this article. Hope youâll enjoy the read!
Last month, in the October edition, I wrote that it would be hard to top all the news and information presented that month. Well, I might have been wrong, because it turns out that after a very busy October, the community had an extra gear to set inâŚ
Yes, November was another fantastic month for our platform! The developers and content creators have been very, very busy, and we can see the results below. A big thank you to all of you!
As for hardware, we know that the Mirari project is making progress. What will next year bring? Iâm optimistic, thatâs for sure!
Thanks again, and enjoy the roundup! đ

A new version of Dir Me Up has been released! This program allows users to explore and manipulate files, links, and drawers of their Amiga. This time it is also available for AmigaOS 3.2 RTG. Please visit the official homepage for more information:
http://glames.online.fr/products/dirmeup.html
Fredrik Wikstrom, Scott A. Cabit, and Ryan Dixon have released version 1.4 of AmigaKeyRemapper. This program lets the user remap qualifier keys. The changes from the previous version is that it now accepts multiple arguments and allows Caps Lock to be mapped to CTRL.

Do you enjoy playing role-playing games? If yes, then you should be happy to read that version 0.6.2.3 of the EasyRPG Player is now available on AmigaOS 4!
This program allows you to play games created with RPG Maker 2000 and 2003, of which there are quite many available, and some of them look very interesting.
For more information, I recommend you check out their website at https://easyrpg.org/.
For downloading the EasyRPG Player, please click on the link below to OS4Depot:
https://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/roleplaying/easyrpg.lha
McFly PPC has created a video showing it in action:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhN8WqYntbA
Like ScummVM, the EasyRPG Player opens up a whole new range of games for the platform!
HexView is a utility to view a file in hexadecimal way. It has been developed by Tjitte âOldFartâ de Wolff. Version 3.0 is now available.
Here are the changes since the previous version:
V3.0 (November 2025)
Introduces some kind of âtabbed browsingâ (or better: chooser-controlled browsing) through a list of opened files
*** switching between opened files may be too fast to be noticed! ***
Trying to load a file for the second time, will result in showing the already available version (this can be noticed by the entry number not being â1â)
Lets you save either full qualified path or directory to the clipboard
Introduces keyboard shortcuts for controlling the listbrowser
Overall, HexView has gained considerable increase in speed
As HexView sports a screen of its own, âIconificationâ and all the virtues coming with it are no longer available (makes little sense)
https://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=utility/workbench/hexview.lha
Apart from this, he also released version 2.0 of the utility AlignWindows. This is a Workbench tool that you can use to stack windows. More information is available here:
https://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=utility/workbench/alignwindows.lha
Amiga-news.de reports that Rene Olsen â (âŚ) provides templates with his âAmigaOS 4 Skeletonsâ that are designed to make it easier for developers to create their own libraries and device drivers.â More information is available on their website here and over on GitHub.

HunoPPC strikes back with a new game release! This time it is a port of Cannonball, an Outrun engine for AmigaOS 4. We can read the following on his website:
âCannonBall is an souped up game engine for the OutRun arcade game. The original 68000 and Z80 assembler code has been rewritten in C++. This makes it possible to make improvements suitable for modern platforms, including a higher frame-rate and widescreen support. It requires the original ROMs, as these contain elements including the graphics and audio data.â
As for OutRun, I believe it does not need much introduction, since this is a title familiar to most who is active on the Amiga. đ The classic Amiga version was released back in 1989, and according to reviewers on Lemon Amiga, it was not very good.
https://www.lemonamiga.com/game/out-run
The AmigaOS 4 version, however, should be in a completely different league⌠đ
It is worth mentioning that a special version for the A1222+ is available.
Speaking of which, here is a video of Cannonball â OutRun running on the A1222+, courtesy of Mr. Byte.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypNtPdak9-w&t=92s
Another game port recently released is Disasteroids 3D. It was brought to the platform by âAOS4 fans from Marsâ. A very original team name, to say the least! It is nice that we have interplanetary support in the community! đ
Image lent from the website of
HunoPPC Anyway, this is an OpenGL remake of an Asteroids game ThomW wrote back in the year 2000. ThomW writes on itch.io:
Disasteroids 3D was a personal research project to learn how to write simple games using Visual C++ and OpenGL. Programming started on February 16,2000, and the game rapidly took shape. I had a rough game that was playable in less than a week, and since that time, Iâve added a lot of cool effects to make the game more polished.
The game features:
OpenGL 3D graphics
DirectSound support
DirectInput support for joysticks and force-feedback devices
A very low sticker price (itâs free)
I owe a great deal of thanks to Jeff Molofee of nehe.gamedev.net for his OpenGL base code, as well as his encouragement throughout the project. Without his help, Disasteroids 3D wouldnât have even been started.
I hope this game serves as an inspiration to anyone out there who has wanted to program a game to go ahead and do it.
The AmigaOS 4 version is now available to download from the website of HunoPPC:

Looks fun!
Asum from Patrik Axelsson and K-P Koljonen is a very fast MD5 checksum tool. It uses highly optimized PPC MD5 code.
https://os4.aminet.net/package/util/misc/asum
Patrik Axelsson also released version 1.0 of NOP-Handler. He writes:
âThis handler serves reads and writes instantly, without touching the data. Additionally, the size can be specified. This is useful for performance testing, as it can be used to remove the overhead of the underlaying I/O solution.â
https://os4.aminet.net/package/util/misc/NOP-Handler
Chris Young has released version 3.2 of Avalanche, a ReAction unarchive GUI for xfd/xadmaster. Please check out Aminet for the download.

https://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2025-11-00023-EN.html
The goal of the game is to collect diamonds while avoiding enemies, poison, and falling objects. Iâve heard talk about a possible games competition on Amigans.net in this game, which should be fun if it happens. đ
Another piece of news from amiga-news.de is that more Collectorâs Edition boxes for The Settlers 2 will become available. A press release from Look Behind You about this can be found via the link below:
https://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2025-11-00037-EN.html

LiveForIt has been working hard on improving E-UAE on AmigaOS 4. According to the documentation on OS4Depot, 10 years have passed since the last release! He now thought it was time to do another release, containing changes that have happened in the background for quite some time. The new version, 1.1.2, contains the improvements:
- Auto center window in AmigaGFX mode
- New console_output option
- On full-screen mode, now use window size to find a screen mode that matches.
- AGA might be a little faster, (Edge detection, scanline change check, code unrolled)
- In early early pre-alfa AHI driver support.. (Is not recommended to install.)
https://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=emulation/computer/uae.lha
Itâs great to see E-UAE getting some attention on AmigaOS 4!

George Sokianos Now for even more gaming-related news! Yes, if all those above were not enough to satisfy your thirst for gaming, then this one should help. đ This is Open Geometry Wars for AmigaOS 4.1 FE!
Open Geometry Wars aims to be an extremely faithful recreation of Geometry Wars Retro Evolved.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/opengw/
George Sokianos writes the following on his Ko-Fi page:
Today, I released a new port of the Open Geometry Wars for AmigaOS 4.1, which was created more than 10 years ago by Peter Hirschberg.
As the original developer mentions:
âOpen Geometry Wars aims to be an extremely faithful recreation of Geometry Wars Retro Evolved.
Since then, the code was maintained by Juha (capehill) Niemimäki, and was ported by BeWorld and papiosaur to MorphOS. So I thought to give it a try and port it to Amiga OS4 as well.
(âŚ)
OpenGW is a great and fun game, especially for game contests, like the ones we run at amigans.net. Hope to see people having a round of it in the future.â
