This is the Million Earth star system, and you can see how useful Super Massive Black Holes can be.

I would imagine the local 'gods' would be fighting over our one at the centre of the Milky Way....

The Large Magellanic Cloud is a satellite galaxy of our own, and like ours, it has a Super Massive Black Hole at its centre, holding the whole show together

An article published in the journal Nature Astronomy reports the results of a study of seven galaxy clusters that contain various supermassive black holes that offers evidence that outbursts generated at these black holes help cool the gas they feed on. Outbursts in the form of jets from the supermassive black holes cool the gas by forming thin filaments. Some gas will eventually flow back toward those black holes, triggering more outbursts,

Two articles - one published in the journal "Nature Astronomy" and one in "The Astrophysical Journal Letters" - report different aspects of a study of the cataloged as VLASS J041009.05−013919.88, or simply J0410−0139, the most distant found so far. Two teams of researchers used several space and ground-based telescopes and some radio telescopes to obtain detections in various electromagnetic bands.

An article published in "The Astrophysical Journal" reports the results of X-ray observations of the jets emitted by the supermassive black hole at the center of the Centaurus A galaxy. A team of researchers used NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory to find a V-shaped structure that indicates that one of the jets hit something whose nature is uncertain.

An article published in the journal "Nature Astronomy" reports the results of the study of the dwarf galaxy cataloged as LID-568, which has at its center a supermassive black hole that is devouring materials at a rate that is more than 40 times faster than its theoretical limits.

I don't know why such unimaginably large and powerful things instil a deep dread in me like no other object can but it fascinates me all the less.

An article published in "The Astrophysical Journal Letters" reports the results of a census of the youngest supermassive black holes that existed in the early universe. A team of researchers used observations conducted with the Hubble Space Telescope that started from the so-called Hubble Ultra Deep Field to search for primordial supermassive black holes with the addition of data recently collected using the James Webb Space Telescope.

An article published in "The Astrophysical Journal" reports the results of a study of primordial galaxies that seemed too massive for their age, concluding that it was actually the light generated by the activity of their supermassive black holes that created a wrong impression.

A new image captured by the James Webb Space Telescope depicts the quasar cataloged as RX J1131-1231, or simply RX J1131. About six billion light-years away from Earth, it's visible in three different copies, recognizable in the upper part of the bright ring in the center of the image, due to a gravitational lensing effect generated by a galaxy between it and Earth.

An article published in the journal "The Astrophysical Journal Letters" reports the discovery of the most distant pair of merging quasars known. A team of researchers combined observations from the Subaru Telescope with the Gemini North Telescope to find traces of this pair of quasars that we see as they were about 900 million years after the Big Bang.
