Well, I think I'm done with the circuit and PCB design for my #NeXT #SoundBox mini. But before I order the whole thing from #JLCPCB, I'll sleep on it and check everything again tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. 😃

I'm currently rebuilding my website. It's amazing what you can do with #Publii. It's still my favourite static website generator.
I started with one of my projects, the #NeXT #SoundBox mini. I tweaked the #CSS and custom #JavaScript. I think I can use that as a basis for the rest of the website. 😃

My first 4 layer #PCB. It's an #USB #audio device with a #PCM2706 and a mono #amplifier for my #NeXT #SoundBox mini. It is not finished yet. There are more circuit testing to do.

So, this is the final version of my #NeXT #SoundBox mini (watch the live rendering). I have printed some versions and now assembling the parts. When it's done, I will share some photographs.
The driver I'm using here is a “Techtonic TEBM28C10-4B" BMR [1]. BMR stands for “Balanced Mode Radiator”. These full range drivers has - imho - a way better sound than the "classic" ones.

My #NeXT #SoundBox mini is taking shape. I think I managed to define the right hole size for the speaker grill without looking too odd. Just the NeXT logo is missing.
Next challenge: I would like to reverse engineer the PCB for the USB audio bridge with mono amplifier from a cheap USB speaker I bought at Amazon.
The speaker driver I will use is a Tectonic TEBM28C10-4.

I’m a bit torn on how I should design the interior of my #NeXT #SoundBox mini. There are two possibilities:
[1] Simply install a speaker driver and terminals on the housing.
[2] Install a speaker driver and small amplifier.
Version [1] is simple and straightforward. The Raspberry Pi in the NeXTcube gets an amplifier HAT (e.g. HiFiBerry) and that’s it.
Version [2] is more complicated, because I’d need a power supply, which I actually want to avoid, since it means a second cable.

DIRTY DRONE DELUGE - a shadow modulated 4step sequencer with delay/distortion
This machine is named Dirty Drone Deluge, because the sequenzer is flooding the delay for a flood of sounds. It’s enclosure is a recycled drawer (25.5x16.5x9.5cm) of a wooden cabinet, painted in the ‘burnt out industry’ camo patterns in black and chrome. The panel is made of coarsely sanded plastique aluminum laminate with some stamped in function indicator letters.This METSÄÄN machine contains two sections: an extra noisy ECHOBLENDER delay/distortion (more on that in the ECHOBLENDER postings) and an 4-step sequencer. Each step has a FREQUENCY control, a RANGE toggle-switch (low/high) and a LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), that allows frequency control by throwing shade or shining light onto it (shadow=higher/light=lower). A SPEED control sets the sequencers tempo and another toggle-switch kills the sequencers signal to the ECHOBLENDER section. Furthermore there is an INPUT socket (6.3mm mono TS plug) for injecting external signals to the ECHOBLENDER, either passively mixing with the SEQUENZER section’s signal, when that is not switched off. The OUTPUT socket is also for 6.3mm mono TS plugs. Powered by standard 9V DC effect pedal power supplies (boss-style, negative pin inside). PSU is not included. Handmade by grm for METSÄÄN.
