Does anyone know how to use #waydroid while emulating arm64?

Waydroid uses #LXC but I don't know LXC tooling.
But I have been using arm64 #podman images using qemu-user easily.

Should be possible, right?

Ah ben torrieux!

Je pensais avoir échoué mon installation de #waydroid pour utiliser des applications de type #android et là en cherchant mes paramètres sur #sway, j'ouvre accidentellement l'application paramètres de mon Waydroid. 😆

j'avais complètement oublié cette petite particularité de cette application. Bon, maintenant, il va falloir que je vérifie comment ajouter un dossier sur le lanceur d'applications pour classer tout ça... 🐧

So, nach dem 4. Mal Neuinstallieren in 6 Monaten kommt nun der alte olle Androide aus der ersten Garde und macht einem Linuxphone Platz.

Nerviges Beibrot war, dass viele Apps nach dem Wiederherstellen die automatische Backup-Funktion deaktiviert haben (was dann sehr ärgerlich ist, wenn man davon ausgeht, dass die Backups in der kommenden Zeit weiter laufen).

Spannenderweise habe ich dabei gesehen, dass es Waydroid dann andersherum auch als Android-Emulator für den Linux-Desktop (mit Wayland) gibt.
Das bisherige Angebot war bisher immer so lala.

Hat da schon jemand Erfahrung mit?
Das wäre dann so eine Art Live-Backup aller Apps, die auf dem Smartphone rumgeistern bzw. Cloud Account mäßig wie bei Thunderbird, wenn es #CrossPlatform keine Desktop Apps gibt.

PS.: Mal wieder festgestellt, dass ein langes SMS/Messengerloses Wochenende mit Matrix/eMail gar nicht aufkommt, da es einer der wenigen Dienste ist, die nahtlos auf Mobil und Desktop parallel laufen.

PSS.: Jetzt bräuchten wir nur noch eine gescheite Digitale Dienste Aufsicht, mit der dann Inhalte aus dem Google Play Stores und Steam Accounts dieser Welt von ihren Ketten befreit werden und als "besitzbarer" DLC wie die Patientenakte auf unseren Rechnern siedeln können.

Really excited about Valve's Steam Frame VR headset, but mostly because of its software.

It runs Linux on a Snapdragon SoC and will be able to emulate x86 games through FEX and Android games most likely through #Waydroid, so they'll probably bring those projects much further like they did with Wine/Proton. Especially the Waydroid part might help #MobileLinux. Official FEX support and possibly a native ARM Steam Client would also be really nice obviously.

Needed specifically #Android on PC. Sadly BlissOS is MIA, & the only x86 alternative I found concerns me for privacy.
Also saw about #Waydroid, & having used it a while back, wasn't amused by the idea of using it again. But after some thought and some hours of struggle, cooked something:
Installed the apps I needed on Waydroid on Fedora on #Virtualbox on Linux Mint.
A bit laggy and a gradually increasing heat source? Yes and yes. But for what I need, still it worked great!

I'm gonna get waydroid reinstalled too. At some point it got b0rked and wouldn't load, and I think Questing Quokka got rid of it's PPA anyway so...yep, might as well reinstall it.

I finally sat down and figured out how to get #waydroid running on my laptop. It's so much easier now that I don't have to load external kernel modules. The entire reason for wanting to run #android on #Linux was to use Organic Maps. Sure, there's KDE Marble, but this is more intuitive (minus the extra install) and lets me download maps more easily for offline use.

The "Linux Terminal" that newer Android versions ship with* is actually not shit. But still has some rough edges like showing you the dialog for submitting a crash report when you force close the app. And besides that the main annoyance is it not having a desktop environment "adapter" to allow having windows drawn on the screen.

Then it would basically be similar to #waydroid on #postmarketos :D
