𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗻𝗴): A close-up of a hoopoe foraging on the ground in an area filled with dry straw, as we're already at the end of August. Being a migratory bird, it's probably gaining as much weight as possible before beginning its post-nuptial journey across the Strait of Gibraltar and the Sahara to who knows what countries in Central Africa.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝗻 (𝗘𝘀𝗽): Plano cercano de una abubilla buscando alimento en la tierra, en una zona llena de pajitas secas, pues ya estamos en el final del mes de agosto. Al ser un ave migratoria, seguramente esté ganando todo el peso que sea posible, antes de iniciar su viaje posnupcial a través del Estrecho de Gibraltar y del Sáhara quién sabe hacia qué países del centro de África.

🇳🇱 Hoppen zijn niet alleen prachtige vogels, het zijn ook goede insectenjagers. Deze hop heeft een flinke vangst te pakken: een veenmol. Hij brengt hem naar het vrouwtje, dat hier nog op het nest zit.
In Nederland staat de hop op de Rode Lijst als ‘verdwenen broedvogel in Nederland’. De intensieve landbouw is een van de belangrijkste oorzaken voor het verdwijnen van deze mooie vogel, die afhankelijk is van extensieve landbouw en oude bomen. De kans dat hij zich opnieuw in Nederland zal vestigen, is dus helaas heel klein.

🇬🇧 Hoopoes are not only beautiful birds, but also skilled insect hunters. This hoopoe has caught a big one: a mole cricket. He brings it to the female, who is still on the nest.
In the Netherlands, the hoopoe is listed as an ‘extinct breeding bird’. Intensive agriculture is one of the main reasons for the disappearance of this remarkable bird.

Meine lieben Lebensformen,
Die beste Begegnung heute Morgen war aber ein Wiedehopf, der in einem Dorf im Salzburger Flachgau auf Futtersuche war.
Salzburg ist nicht berühmt für seine Wiedehopfpopulationen, darum war unsere Freude sehr groß.

Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt. 
Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

Salzburg is not famous for its hoopoe populations, so we were delighted.
