@itsfoss
Introduced me to so many new and interesting things for me! 🥰

I guess I would have not discovered #VivaldiBrowser without it, and I would have probably been an #avid #gamer or a guy who thought he knew much, when he actually doesn't.
Now, I at least know how much I don't, and I'm interested in more advanced things I would have not known about in #MSWindows!

@nixCraft I recently stumbled across WINUX by @richdevine, and honestly? It might be the perfect bridge for Windows 11 holdouts who are curious about Linux but hesitant to make the jump.

WINUX review Windows Central windowscentral.com/software-ap really nails it—it looks and feels exactly like Windows 11, but runs natively on Linux. For folks who love the UI, this could be a game-changer.

Of course, de-bloating Windows with tools like Flyby11, Tiny11, or Win11Debloat is great for those stuck on corporate machines. But if you can switch? WINUX lets you keep the familiarity of Windows while actually owning your OS. And let’s be real—once people see how smooth and customizable Linux can be, they might never look back.

Has anyone here tried WINUX yet? I’d love to hear if you’ve convinced a "Windows-only" friend to give it a shot! 😊

1 year of linux 🖥️
I’m 37 and have been using Linux for a year now after wasting the rest on Windows. I started reflecting on older Windows versions and how it used to be and realized I hate it. I also hate coding and thought I needed some background knowledge to start Linux. Turns out, I was wrong! I've learned more in this year than in all my years with Windows. Just wanted to share my experience!🖥️

For how to install Linux, I recommend this guide: itsfoss.com/guide-install-linu

Do choose Linux Mint LMDE 6, though:

You can even try it out without installing: either through a Live USB stick, or through a virtual machine (VM): itsfoss.com/install-linux-in-v

Making Linux Installs Easier for Windows Users

Linux is easier than ever, but BIOS access and bootable USB creation remain major hurdles. Many new users struggle with these steps despite Linux itself being simple to use.

A possible solution? A Windows-based installer (.exe) that:

Creates a bootable USB automatically

Adjusts boot order for installation

Such a tool could remove major barriers and make Linux adoption even smoother.

Thinking of moving from ?

Below is advice I needed to find by using search engines so I could install , a file sychronisation program with a (for me) very user friendly graphical user interface.

If you're just surfin' the web, word processing, spreadsheetin', using "web-based apps", etc, then very possibly you'll not ever need to work with tar.gz files.

I've needed to multiple times. 🥊

Like they say in Girl Guides, "Be prepared."

I think I've had about enough of Windows.

I'm going to be selling my GoXLR shortly. Seems like there won't be many more software updates and honestly I don't use half of its features. I'll probably end up going to a Scarlett Solo since it seems to be pretty well supported in Linux.

I'll still have a Windows install for games and some streaming, but I think I'm ready to try Linux as my main OS again. I'd love to try to stream from Linux sometime.

In January 2020 Microsoft will drop supporting Windows 7. This can be a chance to bring people to Linux!
I mean many people still use Windows 7 and did not upgrade and likely don't want to upgrade to Windows 8 or 10…

Due to the lack of a real cross-distro discussion platform I've written up some ideas here, now:

@switchingsocial@mastodon.at

I went in as a Linux beginner to and while there was a bit of a learning curve, the community and info out there made it very easy to pick up what I didn't know.

But do tend to go for or if I need an easy quick install for something or someone else
