Before selling the zip disk drive, I recorded a short video of how to insert and reject a zip disk.

Anybody remember the Zip disk? 💾

It was an alternative to the floppy disk for data storage - until USB sticks took over.

I just found another one, but sadly, I sold my dad's Zip drive on eBay a few years ago.

Sure the sex is good, but do they have a branded Altera MAX sSOC and a 100MB ZIP disk with untold riches of projects started and maybe finished? Yea, didn't think so.

Anyone have an #LS120 and end up switching to #ZipDisk?

I just had a rummage around in a big box o’ random crap I’ve got in the spare room as it occurred to me that I used to have a Zip drive and thought it might be in there. Alas, no, but I did find some of my old Zip disks, plus some other random bits and bobs.

I found my old joysticks for my Commodore Plus/4 (very un-ergonomic, I never liked using them even back in the day), the A520 modulator for my Amiga 500 (haven’t needed to use that in ages!), a seemingly unopened floppy head cleaners for both 3 1/2” and 5 1/4” drives (I’ve never even owned a 5 1/4” drive, so that’ll remain unused) and, the bit I’m most looking forward to delving into, 6 CDs worth of audio samples. There must be at least some useful sounds in that lot I can use!

I’m sure I’ve still got that Zip drive *somewhere*, I seriously doubt I’d have chucked it. I bloody hope not anyway.

Hey folks, spotted a bundle of New, Blank, & Sealed IBM Formatted Zip 100MB Disks on Goodwill's auction site. Current bid's at $16, with the auction closing on April 21st. Looks like 12 of them if I’m counting right, which would put them currently about $2 / disk wish shipping. When a nice walk through the neighborhood reminds you just how old you are. #zipdisk

An old 100MB Zip disk severely damaged and lying on the ground. It’s label is barely legible.

I'm seriously considering sending all my old floppy and zip disks to floppydisk.com and also getting all my old photos scanned. No sense in keeping them on the hope I *MIGHT* get to it one day. I don't even have a working 5.25 or Zip Drive anymore.

Anyone have positive experiences with floppydisk.com?
