Wires, Wings, and Watchers

Three new lifers—Eared Doves, Gray Kingbirds, and a Scaly-naped Pigeon—greeted me during a slow walk through the garden on Day One in St. Vincent.

Look, if all I can do right now is post a photo of a house finch demolishing a dandelion, then I'm going to post a photo of a house finch demolishing a dandelion.

You're welcome for my service.

a cardinal at the feeder on a snowy spring Montreal day.

Just moved to a new place. I so badly want to set up my bird feeders, but priorities ☹️ Hopefully, by the end of the week. The previous owners left behind a bird bath. They clearly didn’t maintain it, but I can already see birds using it. That was next to add to my #backyardbird ensemble, so I’m to go clean it up and add to my set up #birdnerd 🐦🤓

A yellow-rumped warbler sits on the fence with his head cocked to the side. He's not quite sure what I'm doing.

One of these days, I'll get a photo of both the head and the namesake yellow rump - I always seem to get one end but not the other.

I think we both enjoyed the sun this morning.

A Lincoln’s Sparrow perched on a fence looking forward with Ivy in the background. He has a whitish throat and belly with a buff breast patterned with dark streaks, a small white ring around the eye. His crown is slightly puffed, two dark brown stripes with light brown in the middle.

screenshot of the birdfinder ID on the cornell university website. it shows an image of a black and brown sparrow with a yellow spot just in front of its eye. the text says "Congratulations! You identified... White-throated Sparrow." There's the option to click on a button that gives a 'full species account' or we can click on "more all about birds." We highly recommend this bird ID!
