Oh, wow... you live and learn! I was always a fan of a game named "Gargoyle's Quest" on the original Game Boy. It was one of the first cartridges I had as a kid back in 1990 or '91 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Much, much later, as an adult, I learned there existed a prequel called "Gargoyle's Quest II" on the Nintendo Entertainment System. In glorious color! Also, a great game!

Today, I finally discovered another chapter to this story: Back in 1992, Capcom actually released a Japanese version of "Gargoyle's Quest II" for the classic Game Boy! I just downloaded and installed the English fan translation. This is amazing!

A Google Maps mini rant. #Gargoyle #GoogleMaps For years "Use precise location" meant allowing access to accelerometers, Wi-Fi snooping and so on, but I could deny that and independent GPS apps (such as the evergreen GPS Test by authors Chartcross Limited), and even Gargoyle Maps itself, would use a GPS fix without compromising it with inaccurate Wi-Fi guesswork.

Then, a year or two ago, G Maps would refuse to use an accurate fix without enabling the "accurate" option (which was actually inaccurate guesswork according to their own messages) even when other apps had a 13-satellite fix accurate to a few paces. It would lie instead, guessing badly and telling me I'm 1/2 mile away and sending me way off course when I'm walking in a city I don't know. Only Gargoyle, because all other navi apps worked fine. Glad I found OsmAnd for, you know, actually navigating somewhere using GPS. Old school :-)

Now it's changed again. Now denying "accurate" location to any app stops GPS fixes (which makes a kind of sense, if we ignore about decade of history).

Don't tell me they've simply (whispers) fixed a bug?! Nah...

Absolutely love this grotesque on the former Coats Memorial Church in Paisley. Built in 1894, this church was designed in a Gothic Revival style by H.J. Blanc and it's covered in some fantastic Gothic-inspired sculptures and carvings. It's now used as an events venue.
