Celebrating International Repair Day I replaced the battery of my old MacBook (10 years old) to reuse it as music player. The repair was not too bad except for the glued-on battery, but I defeated it with white spirit. Thanks #iFixit for the guide!

We had a brilliant #RepairCafe for #InternationalRepairDay last Saturday. Our members and community fixers did repairs, saving all sorts from going to landfills.

As well as all the practical and environmental reasons there is also the joy it brings to both the owner (client) of the thing, and the repairer.
And often the joy is as important for a sewing repair, an unblocked vacuum cleaner, or a small piece of furniture as in the thread link below.

This sweater has been with me for more than ten years, and I got it second hand from an old lady. Then it was plain white art, because it is hand knit.
Over the years, I patched wear and tear, but last year the fixes got a bit obvious, and I have enough other white stuff. Also, the stitches got pulled wider than is useful in aweater, making steeks obvious. So I fixed all this with embroidery wool.
Now in its 20th year, it is a favorite again.

Alright then, I'll unscrew the circuit board from the #ExcerciseBike console display.
Then I'll replace (more) capacitors.

Durch einen defekten Elko setzt dessen Netzteil regelmäßig aus, was die Heizungsanlage beeinflusst.
