I just wrote a decently exhaustive feature request for #KWin to support the #wayland protocol ext-image-copy-capture-v1. It would make a whole list of screenshot/screenrecording tools way easier to get working on #kde_plasma especially without the need for xdg portals.

I'm curious whether i'm the only person annoyed by the constant portals when i just want to screen share. Or whether i'm the only developer disappointed by how much boilerplate (pipewire negotiation etc) screen capture on wayland has.

#KDE finally dropping #X11 support (albeit sometime in 2027) is great to hear! For me, though, it'll be business as usual because I've only had the KDE Wayland session for quite some time. At least, since #ArchLinux split #KWin into its separate X11 and #Wayland packages, I've never used the X11 session ever since.

@innocence I did some testing, and you are right. The general rule made the way I described does not work, and I don't know how to fix it. I got played, because I had a bunch of window rules for individual windows already in my system.

Maybe some #Kwin people will have a moment to help us out? 🙂 This would be a great thing to know.

Wo ist "Fenster zeigen" / "Show windows" in #KDE #Plasma 6.4 hin? Es ist aus der Effekte-Liste von #Kwin verschwunden! Der manuell auf Maustasten gescriptete D-Bus-Befehl funktioniert noch, aber die Tastenkürzel nicht.

Ich brauche Tastenkürzel für
1) Alle Fenster
2) Fenster des aktiven virtuellen Desktops
3) Fenster der aktiven Anwendung

"Raster" fehlt auch! Funktioniert aber ebenfalls noch über D-Bus.

You have to hit Alt + F3 when the game window is focused, and select "Keep above others" from the menus.

There's also an option to get rid of titlebar and frame from games that insist on rendering those.

From the "Configure Application (something)" submenu option you can make those changes persistent.

Your other option is to configure your panels to autohide, dodge windows, or keep below windows.
