Art, expertly imitating life again.

If this memory isn’t a perfect portrayal of the people “in” my life now.

(Except for the few good ones that still exist, and believe in me, you mean so much).

Ones who, like me, shared a common belief in supporting & advocating for a better fighting for the the the and other groups.

So y’all just worn down? Diffusion of responsibility? Nope, not that.

Apathy, perhaps?

Outlived my usefulness?

😿 😮‍💨 🥱

Facebook memory from four years ago. In his iconic role as Maurice Moss from "The IT Crowd," Richard Ayoade is captured in a moment of intense concentration, his eyes glued to the computer screen before him. He is utterly oblivious to the chaotic eruption of flames dominating the left side of the frame, creating a striking visual contrast, ironically mirroring this moment in time for me. The warm, flickering light of the fire casts a dramatic orange glow on his face, highlighting his signature thick dark glasses & the subtle furrow of his brow, indicating deep focus.

His meticulously arranged attire—a plaid shirt buttoned to the top & a neatly tied tie—stands in stark opposition to the unruly chaos of the flames, emphasising the absurdity of the moment. Behind him, a cluttered workspace filled with a jumble of papers, whimsical figurines, disassembled computer components offers a glimpse into Moss's world. In this place, order & chaos coexist in peculiar harmony.

This image masterfully captures the essence of "The IT Crowd," showcasing its unique blend of deadpan humour & surreal situations. Even with flames engulfing his surroundings, Moss's unwavering focus becomes a hilarious testament to his eccentric character and the show's talent for finding humour in unexpected chaos. The juxtaposition of his calm demeanour against the backdrop of fiery disruption embodies the signature blend of absurdity & relatable office humour, making it a memorable & iconic image.

@edri nails it:
"For example, Meta now allows its users to refer to “women as household objects or property” or “transgender or non-binary people as ‘it’.” It now allows users to verbally attack LGBTQ+ people by stigmatising them as “abnormal” or “mentally ill,” and said that it would generally limit moderation. As targeting people based on their appearance, race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religious affiliation, gender identity or sexual orientation, among others, are no longer prohibited, Meta’s new policy systematically legitimises and normalises the dehumanisation of people in the guise of ‘free speech’."

We should not call these platforms "social" media anymore. There is nothing social about them anymore...

Social media, like society, should be diverse. It should be full of equal opportunity, pride, and cultural learning. As a UK charity, we will never compromise on our support for marginalised communities or our belief in strength in diversity. #Diversity #Community #Marginalised

This topic needs to be discussed in greater detail. As we can appreciate, only so much can be put into a single post or thread. I have added a link to one of my blogs about this.

If policy changes are to be made, all groups, especially those and communities, must be invited to speak, and you need to hear what we say. Listen actively.

Nihil de nobis, sine nobis or Nothing about us, without us!

If you come to fight, bring evidence.

We often tend to forget the role of #marginalised people in technologies.

Marginalised people feel a lot safer in computer circles.

See how almost all technologies ranging from wireless transmissions to compilers couldn't be possible without #women:

Here's an idea: a whole shitload of us pool together to buy a ghost town, and transform it into a model #anarchist #socialist #community?

A place for #marginalised and #disenfranchised people of all race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, place of birth, etc. Create a working model of cooperation and sustainability, and (hopefully) prosperity & comfort.

There are many to choose from in #canada alone.

I'm helping to organize a local #kink conference that centers internally #marginalised presenters & attendees. Relieved that we have a venue booked for next year; it suddenly feels real.
