In case anyone is wondering what caused my recent rant, I just did a fresh install of #OpenSuseSlowroll - basically, it's a delayed rolling release. It's like #OpenSuseTumbleweed except the updates come monthly instead of more or less constantly. The idea is to strike a balance between the sometimes unstable Rolling Release model and the sometimes out of date Fixed Release or "Stable" model.
Anyway, I used the new Agama Live ISO. It's well laid out, and while not quite as user friendly as Calamares, it's more powerful without being overwhelming. It's also *fast* which I love.
That said…
During install, you go in and pick, say, Gnome Desktop Environment, Multimedia, and Office Software, plus Base System and Enhanced Base System, the YaST utilities (OpenSuse's magnificent suite of system management tools), and other minimal options.
