🫢🫢MOTVIATION MONDAY: Saw this trend happening a while ago, just decided to hop on now. Pole propaganda I'm not falling for: ✨easy edition✨
1.Winning a ton of medals makes you an amazing dancer/performer/aerialist. REALITY CHECK: It's like a Rotten Tomatoes score. winning a medal means that you managed to "please x% of judges". Winning a comp means you can follow rules and tick boxes. Still amazing and congrats to you if you place - but don't let not medaling discourage you. (Further, you can even relate it to RT even more by stating the judges are the critics score and the audience score can be applied for pole too!)
2.Because you are a great dancer you will be a great dance teacher. REALITY CHECK: Take it from a real-life previous schoolteacher, trained in learning and development: not everyone is a teacher.
3.Points of contact is the end-all-be-all of move difficulty. REALITY CHECK: I've written about this more than enough; it's also about flexibility, strength, and more.
4.You need to perform a certain style to be "valid". REALITY CHECK: you can perform in ANY style you want and that's what makes pole so cool!

2.I wanted to do both a reiko and an ayesha, but alas, life was not working with me that day for many reasons! It’s okay, I’ll catch those at the next one!
3.From “my work here is done” and on is freestyled :-), about 1/3 of the routine!
4.My first performance with shoulder mount regrips
5.I LOVED DANCING IN MY CONVERSE. I’ve found a new love of dancing in non-pole shoes! Idk, I just really vibed with it!
