In the name of government efficiency #DOGE, travel planners & expense processors were laid off, forcing the international inspectors to coordinate their own access, flights, hotels, & reimburse themselves. Many took early retirement, leaving at least 1 in 5 missing.

We're up to six deaths, now, from the listeria-laced food recalls. Dozens of hospitalizations, many more have gotten sick from it, but didn't know, because of similarity in symptoms.
Recalled foods listed in article. They are prepared pasta dishes from Trader Joes, Albertsons, Kroger, Giant Eagle, etc.

Northwest Natural is poised to generally increase rates in Oregon and Washington.

For Oregon, a modest increase:

"On September 15, 2025, NW Natural filed its Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA) request with the Oregon Public Utility Commission. If the rates are approved as initially filed, residential rates will increase by about $2 a month for customers using an average of 54 therms per month. Small-commercial rates will increase by about $7 based on average usage of 270 therms per month. Large industrial firm rates will increase by about $381 based on average usage of 20,914 therms monthly, and large industrial interruptible rates will increase by about $617 based on average usage of 50,145 therms monthly.

Separately, on December 30, 2024, NW Natural filed a general rate increase proposal with the OPUC. The increase will cover costs associated with operating and maintaining the company’s natural gas distribution system and continuing to provide safe and reliable service to customers. If the current request is approved as filed, residential customers using an average of 54 therms per month would see a monthly bill increase of about $4.13."

For Washington, a brief decrease followed by an increase, if approved:

"On September 15, 2025, NW Natural filed its Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA) request with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC). If the rate changes are approved as filed, Washington residential customers using an average of 56 therms per month will see the PGA-affected parts of their bill go down by about $4 per month. Small-commercial bills will decrease by about $19 based on average usage of 261 therms per month. Large industrial firm bills will decrease by about $839 based on average usage of 11,726 therms monthly, and large industrial interruptible bills will decrease by about $658 based on average usage of 16,547 therms monthly.
Notice of request for rate increase in Washington: On August 29, 2025, NW Natural filed a general rate change request with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC). It’s been five years since NW Natural filed for a rate case to cover system investments. Since then, costs have escalated from inflation, higher material prices and operations and maintenance expenses.
To continue delivering safe, reliable service, NW Natural is proposing a three-year adjustment under the state’s new multi-year rate statute, which aims to help customers plan for the impacts associated with increasing costs.
If the initial request is approved as filed, the average residential customer who has been connected to our system on or before July 25, 2021 would see an increase of about 22% for the first year (August 2026 – July 2027), followed by about a 5% increase for each of the next two years. The average small-commercial customer would see an increase of about 23% for the first year (August 2026 – July 2027), followed by about a 6% increase for each of the next two years.
For residential customers with newer connections, those increases would be about 20% for the first year, followed by increases of about 5% for each of the next two years. Newer connected small-commercial customers would see an increase of about 21% for the first year (August 2026 – July 2027), followed by about a 5% increase for each of the next two years.
The request will not impact customer bills for this upcoming winter season (2025-2026). If approved, new rates would take effect starting August 1, 2026."

Even the ads are self-owns. Late stage capitalist credit card company depicts its spokesperson as having to sleep in the bank branch. "Use our credit card because our slaves sleep where they work!"
Bankers don't believe capitalism can allow for decent wages; profits are king in the USA.

Screen grab of an online ad for a credit card company. The spokesperson/ character who's selling the bank's services is seen in pyjamas, on a blanketed sofa in the lobby of a hotel branch office. He's about to go to sleep, supposedly. A wall of windows in the background show faded light, perhaps clouds or early evening.
