Attempt 03: I found #rxvt, which is blazing fast, and though I managed to replicate my color themes pretty closely to what I like using the ".Xresources" file, getting text-zoom and clipboard to work is a little too much work for my "portable" need.

Best to use glyphsize-aliased bitmapfont for starters and set -geometry accordingly; use -b (inner border in px) to fine-tune.

A few months ago my terminal colours were suddenly messed up. I have no idea what caused that since I didn't touch any related settings for years.
Now I have a lot of pink on pink, which is obviously not readable.

I managed to partially fix it by deleting some colour definitions from #Xdefaults.

Did someone else experience the same?

For #fvwm1 (and for a time, #fvwm2), the man page used to have a BUGS section which listed the following:

As of fvwm 0.99 there were exactly 39.342 unidentified bugs. Identified bugs have mostly been fixed, though. Since then 9.34 bugs have been fixed.

Assuming that there are at least 10 unidentified bugs for every identified one, that leaves us with 39.342 - 9.32 + 10 * 9.34 = 123.402 unidentified bugs. If we follow this to its logical conclusion we will have an infinite number of unidentified bugs before the number of bugs can start to diminish, at which point the program will be bug-free.

Since this is a computer program infinity = 3.4028e+38 if you don't insist on double-precision. At the current rate of bug discovery we should expect to achieve this point in 3.37e+27 years

I guess I better plan on passing this thing on to my children....

The "I" here refers to Robert Nation, the original creator of #fvwm and #rxvt.

As it happens, I've not been able to reduce the number of bugs in #fvwm3 either, and I've no grandchildren...

Sei lá, eu sou do tempo do monitor de fósforo verde. Tem alguma coisa nesses emuladores de terminal modernos que me incomoda, mas no minimalismo do RXVT, eu me sinto em casa.

It's difficult to find a web browser suitable for downloading large ISO images on a dual Pentium II 350 MHz. #Firefox had literally still done nothing visible at all toward loading DuckDuckGo after minutes of waiting. #Emacs eww seemed to be trying to download the entire file into a buffer, which was unsurprising but unpleasant. Hv3 might be working, but I can't tell.

#LXDE is almost unusably slow, I'm using xdm / #fvwm / #rxvt.

@jan Lol! Well, there aren't really any good alternative to #archlinux. Especially if you plan on doing tiling wm. ;)

I am on #bspwm and have been so a couple of years now.. and although I have tested other terminals the #rxvt-unicode is the one who I've stucked with.
