yk what i'll just tell you what's wrong

even when i select the "no passthrough please" option, when the systemd output is on screen it ocasionally says something along the lines of "the gpu is already bound to vfio" which leads me to believe that the boot option is not working bc it's not letting the host use what i'm passing through to it. oddly enough i can't use virt-manager when i'm not in passthrough mode

yea i need help pls help me

VM vs Kubernetes Breaking Down the Use Cases and Benefits

The VM vs Kubernetes conversation often comes up like it's either-or, but most real-world systems use a mix of both. Virtual Machines power legacy systems and specialized workloads, while Kubernetes is designed for scalable container management. The key is knowing where each fits and how they can work together effectively.Making the right choiceβ€”or combining bothβ€”can help you optimize performance, simplify operations, and scale with confidence. What Is a Virtual Machine (VM) A Virtual […]

πŸš€ Announcing "Microsandbox": the revolutionary technology that combines the inefficiency of virtual machines with the false security of containers! πŸŽ‰ Finally, a platform that lets you run untrusted code in a way that feels just as clunky as ever, with the added bonus of buzzwords plastered all over. πŸ€–βœ¨

Does anyone know why the instructions for installing VirtualBox on Linux are so terrible?

It's especially bad for RPM-based distros like Fedora across the board. They've expanded what's essentially a single command to about two paragraphs of instuctions.

All you need to do is install the dependencies and then add the repofile using "dnf config-manager".

πŸŽ‰ Ah, the classic tale of an overenthusiastic developer who decided that implementing a -V would be a fun weekend project. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Apparently, the thrill of virtual machines and obscure CPU extensions is just too irresistible. Spoiler: it's just like Intel VTx but with more acronyms and fewer people who care. πŸš€

Using , it can be convenient to deploy a set of equivalent resources, e.g. , by using the `for_each` meta-argument. I.e., where
* the map fed to for_each refers to a common configuration shared by all VMs.
* e.g. the content on the root volume of the is the .

But how to manage deploying updates the shared config for a sub-set of such a set, e.g. for ?

If the common config changes, the default is to re-create all VMs.

Any recommendations for a 64 bit machine for #proxmox to run 8 dedicated #virtualmachines #vm each running minimal #ubuntu for a single #reticulum #meshchat application with 8 single usb-c connections to 8 #lora radio #rnode #nodes like a RAK4613 store.rakwireless.com/products
Here is what their site says: proxmox.com/en/products/proxmo
Requirements for each VM is not much more than 1 Gb and storage requirements trivial (less than 30 Gb per machine). Any recommendations most welcome.

Parallels Desktop 20.3 Brings Linux VM Fixes to Mac Users

The fourth major release in the Parallels Desktop 20 series has been released, bringing a stack of fixes for running Windows, macOS and Linux virtual machines on macOS. Yes, I did say macOS. I know; at first blush it seems odd for an Ubuntu blog to cover macOS app updates. But, Parallels is virtualisation software. It lets macOS users run Windows, macOS and Linux distributions as virtual machines so they can …Do whatever it is they need to. Scores of developers rely on Linux virtual machines in their day-to-day work since every wants to or is able to run Linux :sys_more_orange:

VirtualBox 7.1.8 Adds Support for Linux Kernel 6.14

Ubuntu 25.04 is out this week and many will be turning to virtual machine to test, trial or tie the release into their development workflows β€” perfect timing for a new version of VirtualBox, then! Oracle today (April 15) issued the fourth maintenance update in the current VirtualBox 7.1 series. No new features were added but a flurry of bug fixes, stability boosts and integration buffs are present, which users across all supported OSes will benefit from. For Linux users frustrated at flakey wireless network adapter detection in earlier releases, the 7.1.8 update fixes the issue. Similarly, anyone ticked off :sys_more_orange:

One of the #Linux distributions we hear very little about in the industry for cloud/#VM usage is #GentooLinux. But that could change with the #Gentoo project now putting out official #QCOW2 disk images to make it easier deploying this source-based Linux distribution within #virtualmachines. With these QCOW2 images, the XFS file-system is their preferred choice used for its copy-on-write, reflinks, and other features.
