Ooof, finally resolved issue with #sogo #activesync that was bugging me since at least July.
At some point Outlook at one department stopped syncing emails and calendars. Logs reported "Cache cleanup needed for user X", but cache cleanup didn't help.
In the end it was 1 event in shared calendar, it had & symbol in the name, which was properly escaped in description field of XML sync message, but not in ServerID field, which caused failure with parsing the message and go out of sync with client

Hey Fedi, I need your help again!

My new job uses an exchange/activesync solution (not Microsoft, thankfully).

Everything just works out-of-the-box on Linux with recent @thunderbird versions, including the #calendar.
However, I cannot find how I'm supposed to sync the calendar with #FLOSS tools on #Android (#eOS to be precise).
Can anyone help me out with that?

Is there any OSS or FOSS e-mail client, for Linux or Windows that has native ActiveSync support (not EWS)? 🤔 🐧

I can't seem to find any, and considering it's been around "for a while", I would have thought there would be some (yes, I'm aware of all the fabulous *DAV variants, thanks).

(I mean, there are plenty of e-mail servers that run on Linux, for example, that has server-side support for it.)

i have the manual and a bunch of ads/business reply mail that came with it, and he left some like service slips and stuff with it from when he got tech support. i wonder if they're still in business today

And it's really weird, cause at first I got a "Descriptor reading error" upon connecting any of the H3800s to the laptop and both got listed as "Unknown device". I found and installed a driver so now Windows 11 properly detects them, but I can't install ActiveSync on Windows 11 🤦‍♂️

So I need to forward those devices over USB to a Windows XP on a Virtual Box. And whenever I try that - virtual machine just stops responding completely 😔

Probleme mit Outlook und Exchange ActiveSync Verbindungen?
Bei v2401 scheint sich ein Bug eingeschlichen zu haben. Die Lösung ist, auf Version 16.0.17126.20132 zurück zu wechseln, hat bei einem Kunden problemlos geklappt.

Ziemlich genervt frage ich in die Runde: gibt es Personen, die das lesen, die Tipps für sync-clients zwischen Android und wahlweise caldav/carddav oder activesync haben? Bedingung: darf weder Kontakte verlieren (damit ist davx5 raus, wtf ey) noch Geburtstage von Kontakten um einen Tag verschoben syncen (damit ist der Android Exchange Client für activesync raus). Ich hätte gerne #ActiveSync was mir ein 0815 (sorry) #Dovecot nicht bietet. Ich hab einfach keine Lust, E-Mails, Kontakte, Kalender einzeln einzurichten und zu syncen. Andererseits weiß ich jetzt schon, dass es ein Krampf sein wird, die #Grommunio Kontakte , Kalender und Notizen mit deren von #Nextcloud zu syncen.

it's just that proprietary trash like #MAPI / #ActiveSync makes issues.

Same with contacts (#CardDAV), Files (#WebDAV) and eMail (#IMAP)...

Mein MacBook und das iPhone erzeugen bei meinem #SOGo jeweils einen eigenständigen #Kalender.

Um den Kalender vom MacBook auf dem iPhone zu verwenden, muss ich die Synchronisation mit #ActiveSync einschalten und den iPhone Kalender im SOGo ausblenden.

Auf dem iPhone kann ich dann den Kalender von MacBook auswählen und ebenfalls den "originären" Kalender ausblenden.

Muss man nicht verstehen, ist aber so 😕

The Z-Push ActiveSync interface of my employer's #Kopano is that slow at times (of load), that I added IMAP for mails now. And that's way faster on my mobile.

[Oh, and it's the same way my @thunderbird works. And I really like that due to the amazing work of John Bieling who authored #TbSync, implementing #ActiveSync.]

Schlussendlich konnte ich mit SoGo auch eine Software finden, mit der ich meine #Termine, #Kontakte und #Aufgaben verwalten, und sogar meine E-Mails lesen kann.

Die Synchronisation mit Clients wie zum Beispiel #Thunderbird, eine Voraussetzung für mich, erfolgt mittels #CalDAV, #CardDAV und #GroupDAV, als auch Microsoft #ActiveSync


Alle Programme laufen auf meinem eigenen Server, sind als Sourcecode auf #Git zu finden, und haben entsprechende Clients für mein #Smartphone.
