@herhandsmyhands whether this is GenAI or some other machine learning algorithm, I'm so tired of companies destroying their products in the name of improvement. I already don't use their service any more because of the amount of data their app has to collect to function. This is just the last straw for me.

Anyone who has struggled with a GPS assistant lagging, giving iffy instructions, relying on outdated data, knows how these can get you in trouble. But in a city, you at least won't die of exposure or fall down a ravine and break your neck, because the algorithm told you that would make your hike 'more scenic' or 'shorter'.

#PSA: if you use the AllTrails app, the GenAI it uses for the "making route" feature may send you down a crevasse or some other dangerous route, where rescuers may not find you, ever.
