#dms est un shell de bureau wayland, ni plus ni moins. Les gestionnaires de fenêtres en tiling (mais pas que), comme #NIri, #Sway ou encore #Scroll sont fournis nus, traditionnellement c’est à chacun d’assembler et configurer le nécessaire pour y ajouter barre d’état, dock, fond d’écran, mode nuit, etc. Et c’est là que dms intervient, en fournissant un tout cohérent clef en main, configurable graphiquement.

#quickshell Umgebung #dankmaterialshell ist hier sehr dankbar. Nimmt einem viel "Gegurke" ab, da #dms sehr viele Funktionen bietet. Bei #waybar benötigt man zusätzliche Software/configs.

I think I am ready to test #Niri seriously through daily use. I had to rephrase one of my prerequisites: I didn't manage to configure ibus, but I managed to configure fcitx5 to write in Japanese.

Special mention for #DankMaterialShell without which I probably wouldn't have embarked on the adventure.

The combination of the two is full of promise.

Currently looking for a shell (which will save me from spending hours manually configuring all the basic things) to accompany #Niri. I both want to adjust the gamma values (night light mode) and switch to dark theme automatically for the night. #DankMaterialShell (dms) does the first but not the second. #COSMIC does the second but not the first. These are my two main candidates😬.

DankMaterialShell (dms) now offers a copr repository for a simplified installation on Fedora. This could be an opportunity to test #Niri in real use.

I don't really know how to use it yet, but I can say this is really nice right out of the box. I need some setup and configuring but this #dankmaterialshell takes #niri to the next level. The smooth animations of the menus from within the bar are awesome. It fits in, blends in, and with more work by myself it'd be quite the spectacle to see.
