On my Linux laptop, I've been happily using #niri and #DankMaterialShell.

Today I made my first plugin for DMS that lets you set an always visible reminder/countdown:

I just installed KDE Connect on my #nixos laptop and it's absolutely amazing! Seamless integration between my laptop and phone. Send files, clipboard, SMS, etc.

It proves that the choice between freedom and seamlessness (i.e. walled gardens) is a false dichotomy; you can have both.

OK, so I read that KaOS is dumping KDE (questionable motivation as #KDE #plasma itself doesn't depend on systemd…) and they are pondering #noctalia (https://github.com/noctalia-dev/noctalia-shell) and O-M-G! It looks so gorgeous! And it turns out to be based on #Quickshell (https://quickshell.org/) which is a toolkit with set of ready-made components for everything-your-desktop-needs based on #Qt #QtQuick and it looks so cool! 😍 And there is also #DMS #DankMaterialShell (https://github.com/AvengeMedia/DankMaterialShell) which also looks amazing! 😍

Inzwischen bietet auch #noctalia shell ein layout switcher widget an, per plugin.
Aber ein Killerfeature hat #dankmaterialshell was noctalia nicht hat: #danksearch ! 👍

@YaLTeR @paoloredaelli Absolutely try it, I have been a user of the last years of #sway then #hyprland but #niri has surprised me with the thought of everything, broad-based, easy and bonus is #DankMaterialShell beautifully designed and perfectly integrated into the system. I've been using #niri for the past week and "got under my skin".

Did a quick test of #dankmaterialshell but #noctaliashell feels more polished!

About a month ago I switched away from using my own dotfiles for #niri in lieu of #dankmaterialshell. It might stem from me wanting to just use my machine instead of having to maintain my machine, but it’s been a very nice experience. The devs are working hard adding a ton of features to make a nice desktop environment, and there’s already a pretty in depth plugin ecosystem for adding more specific features. I’ve been enjoying it!

Got couple of nice QOL improvements merged into the #DankMaterialShell Pomodoro Plugin yesterday - IPC bindings so you can bind Pomodoros to shortcuts in your window manager and automatic muting of notifications while you work. (optional setting)

#dms est un shell de bureau wayland, ni plus ni moins. Les gestionnaires de fenêtres en tiling (mais pas que), comme #NIri, #Sway ou encore #Scroll sont fournis nus, traditionnellement c’est à chacun d’assembler et configurer le nécessaire pour y ajouter barre d’état, dock, fond d’écran, mode nuit, etc. Et c’est là que dms intervient, en fournissant un tout cohérent clef en main, configurable graphiquement.
