In a beautiful moss & epiphyte covered tree against a background of green leaves sits two hawks. On the left stands a brown and yellow one with a streaky brown breast has an open beak holding (if you click to zoom) a tiny piece of mussel. This bird is turned to face the black hawk on the right who still holds the rest of the mussel shell in her foot (hard to see but again if you click...) They are both Common Black-Hawks but the brown one is a recent fledge still being fed and fussed over by the adult bird. Both parents participate in caring for their young birds, so I do not know if this is mom or dad, although I am guilty of calling this bird "yelling mom" in a different photo. Fledgling Bluetit getting fed by a parent bird

Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin. The pidgeon tried to chase away any competitors but gave up pretty soon. In the end it was enough for all of them - even for that little ever hungry sparrow fledgling. You can still see the yellow color around its beak.

The local cygnets, still in the grey plumage of juvenile swans, have begun to practice flying.

Lots of flapping and slapping of wings on the water as they get going. About ⅔ of them now become completely airborne—though only 1 meter above the canal.

They go 500 meters, from one bridge to the next, then return to the adults by paddling all in a row.
