Happy news for fans of #GNSS the U-blox NEO F-10N is 1) super affordable and 2) offers access to the rarely seen E5a Galileo band, plus support for the as yet "unofficial" GPS L5 signals. #NTP woes for days - until I learned that (a) #Ubuntu ignores ntp.conf if an NTP server is provided via DHCP, and (b) #eero devices name themselves NTP servers via DHCP.
eero fix: None. (grrr)
Ubuntu fix: Remove/rename /etc/dhcp/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/ntp and reboot.
Now happily syncing with my local #GNSS receiver.
Just got my hands on the second unit of the dual-antenna H-RTK Unicore UM982 GPS receiver. I'm curious how it will perform in RTK base station mode. Will it be accurate enough to provide centimeter-level positioning for the drone? Will it help in forest environments? Oh, so many questions, so few answers.
@ukraine OFC if a #drone is #preprogrammed then it's not susceptible to #jamming.
- Technology like #InertialNavigation, #Timers and #TerrainFollowing predate #GNSS systems like #NAVSTAR, #GLONASS & #COMPASS by decades, and it's not as if those ain't established technologies...

- #Assimilation of #GNSS-R to improve the land surface (in the same team as me)
- Assimilation of #CIMR in the coupled system looking at the ocean (we've already started preparing for the sea ice part; on the #ESA #DANTEX project I'm involved in)
- A climate reanalysis scientist looking after the quality of #ERA6
