Crystal clear waters of a mountain lake in a sunny and beautiful day. Underwater pebbles con be seen in the foreground, then the water color becomes turquoise, till the green grass of the banks in the background. Mountain peaks, some snowcapped, in the far background.

Last item of the second day was the mighty #Gavia. When I rolled up the summit at 10pm the road was empty except for a bunch of curious deer. Back down in Ponte di Legno I called it a day and had five hours of wholesome sleep, sadly without anything real to eat.

El gavià argentat de potes grogues (Larus michahellis) és el més gran que podem veure a la Mediterrània, fins a 1,30 metres d'envergadura. Els hem vist caçar cries de ànec, de fotja, crancs, coloms... Aquest exemplar juvenil, però, va preferir endur-se volant una rata.

Sometimes I do not hike up a mountain, but use a bike instead. The views are just a nice as when on foot and you see more in less time. This was during the climb to Passo di Gavia in the Italian Alps (2,621m / 8,600ft). I was lucky enough that there was hardly any other traffic, so was able to concentrate on riding and enjoying the surroundings.

View for outside of a hairpin looking inwards. The road is steep, the asphalt is smooth. A lone cyclist can be seen just before a bend on the right. There is a nice view on mountains under a blue sky with some white clouds. It was a good day.
