My second attempt at #sock #yarn. This is 83 grams of 12 wpi (sport - fingering) blended polwarth, kid mohair, and angora rabbit. I made rolags on my blending board. Next time, I will diz the rolags to predraft them. I've got it divided into 2 41 gram balls, a ready to #knit. It's a gorgeous, natural linen color, no dye, and soooooffftt! I'm a little worried it might be too soft to last. #handspinning #handmade #handcraft #wool #fiberarts

#ryijy made by my grandmom. She was handcrafter by profession, didn't do much crafting at retirement, but after she turned 85 she decided to do one ryijy to each of us grandkids.

Laying flat on the floor, Finnish style handmade ryijy, but design is very modern. It has lots of colours, different shades of green on upper left corner, different shades of pink in lower right corner, wine of flower shapes and leafs going on diagonal accross it. It looks vefy soft and fluffy,
dimensions are ca 80cm x 1m

On backside of ryijy, it says:
"Suomen Käsityön Ystävät oy
Helsinki - Finland
Design : Kirsi Niinimäki
Muisto 1994"
It continues handwritten: "year 2002, maker: Martta ******, Tuulia's 88yo granny"
I edited her last name away.

Squeezed some beadwork in this spring! Border on the flower pattern is uneven, but it’s a mistake easily avoided next time. The brown bg on the lanternfly ended up being more red than I anticipated, so I’ll try a blue bg next time. Hopefully it will make the pattern pop more.

Since I'm still definitely not participating in #tourdefleece2025 I thought I may as well drag out my homemade support spindle, and spin up this cotton I've had in my stash for a while. It's so different from wool, the staple is really short, and it kept breaking on my e-spinner, so it's back to the Neolithic for this girl! #handspinning #handmade #handcraft #spinning

A view of my lap. There's my Indian print bedspread, and a small glass dish in my lap. I'm holding a foot-long wooden dowl that has a funky homemade whorl on it to make a spindle. I've got a small amount of spun cotton already wound onto the dowel, and a length of combed and dyed cotton fiber ready to be spun.

Another week another project, this time I made a hinged lid #memocube with drawer.

It was my first complex #boxmaking project (second box made so far)

A small update on my previous #moleskine #bookbinding post.

On the bottom part of the front cover there was a small stain (caused probably by the glue) that didn't look very nice, so i decided to attempt to cover it with metal decorations (small gears). I think that this addition, not only hid the stain, but it make it look better.

Handmade Moleskine-like notebook. Light Brown fabric bookcloth, and on the bottom side of the cover there are three small metal decoration gears.

New Perrot ZK 30 W sector sprinkler ready installed. No concrete needed, if stones are around. Band-it stainless steel bands working pretty good and doing a good job by fixing the metal bar to the wooden larch posts. Amelanchier tree and further aspen trees in the background. Ready to irrigate field and meadow.

A grassy meadow filled with wildflowers and tall green plants. In the center stands an Amelanchier tree with multiple slender trunks and dense, oval-shaped green leaves. In the foreground, a rustic wooden fence post is reinforced by an upright metal pipe, which is actually part of an irrigation sprinkler system, secured in place with stones around its base. Further uphill, another wooden post is leaning. The background is lined with taller leafy trees beneath a partly cloudy sky.

New wooden splitted larch stake driven into the ground and carrefully wedged with stones to fix and align the new sprinkler with a drain valve at the bottom. I prepared the 1 inch bar in advance, screwed it together and sealed the iron/brass parts with hemp and the bottom Plasson PE coupling with teflon.

J'ai réalisé cet objet... En terre cuite puis cuisson raku.

L'exercice consistait à réaliser un objet sans aucune utilité et sans "volonté" d'aboutir à une forme qui ressemble à quelque chose.

L'étape du modelage était délicat, parce qu'on n'arrête jamais d'essayer, au contraire, de faire émerger une forme connue... A un moment de mon travail, j'avais trois serpents dressés autour d'une espèce de tour avec un plateau. Et je me disais qu'on pourrait y poser une bougie.

Impossible de "faire taire" l'interprétation cognitive, il fallait constamment la surveiller. Apprendre à "laisser faire", en dehors de la conscience immédiate, un véritable apprentissage.
