I recently added more brains to my espresso machine. Now I know as soon as it's hit enough to brew! And yes, I know 185 is on the cool side, but that's just accounting for the location of the temp probe.
Amazing news from @SwitchBot
🆕 Curtain 3 with QuietDrive with new and improved noise levels within 25dB and with new low light charging solar panels. Best of all #matter support. 🥳

I never did an #introduction.
I'm an #IT guy who likes to tinker with stuff. I was in Identity in an #infosec-adjacent role with a lot of stress. Recently moved to an #Automation role which makes me much happier.
I've been married to @MollyBooth for more than 10 years and we have an 8yr old son.
I love all things baseball and am a huge #Braves fan.
I drive an #EV and am happy to talk about that topic as well.
My hobbies are #woodworking, #3dprinting, #HomeAutomtion, and #electronics.
It's Sunday.
I was planning to go for another long training walk for my upcoming charity event in June but you know what, I think I'm just gonna have a quiet day and take things easy. Just not feeling it today and rather tired.
We had a busy but productive day yesterday and one of the things we did was to add some extra storage in the hall, in the form of a vertical set of IKEA Kallax shelves with storage boxes on them. That's created a shaded area near the door (we expected add much) so obviously we used that as an excuse to buy more Trådfri lights while we were in IKEA anyway and they'll need installing and setting up with home assistant. Shouldn't take too long but that does mean I'll be working on home assistant anyway so I might do a bit more. It's more like that ever growing list of things to improve or automations to add are going to do themselves.
Which idiot accidentally reset his Z-Wave controller and now gets to factory default and re-enroll every device in the network?
THAT RIGHT! Me.
For weeks my wife and I were wondering what kind of nonsense is our #solarInverter doing all the time. I couldn't make sense of the data in #OpenHAB either. I turned out that the installer made a tiny mistake and switched some cables by accident. :blobcatshrug: But now I'm quite happy and I'll start a journey with some #HomeAutomtion.
The HC-SR04 sensor does not seem to be terribly consistent, so I'm really considering switching to something else. Maybe the VL53L0X infrared sensor. Bonus, it's way smaller too. Anyone have experience with it?
So I’ve done another step-by-step Video/Article Guide for #homeassistant.
I’ve notice a number of people that have wanted to get into using Home Assistant but have been struggling to get there hands on a #rasberrypi and been using old/cheap Windows hardware.
My guide focuses on setting up Home Assistant Supervised in a VM on Windows.
Could be helpful to any new #smarthome #HomeAutomtion users.

Haha so my robot vacuum triggered my home security system motion detectors. #firstworldproblem #HomeAutomtion
Really impressed with how far home assistant has come. When I tried it a few years ago I remember hours of messing around with config files just to get something simple working. This time it detected all of my devices automatically. I have not touched a yaml file so far.
I wrote up a quick blog post with more details on the Aqara lock sensor #HomeAutomtion hack.

Success! A little soldering, some wire, and a few paperclips and I have myself a working door lock sensor! #HomeAutomtion
One of my #cat went on a fixed idea that he wants fresh water from the shower, so I have to go there every once in a while to let it run a little bit. Wondering if I should #automate it.
Has anyone ever automated a faucet or a shower? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, so I'm asking before even trying.
