I'd like to move #Sharkey instances for some reasons and was told to create an alias from one account to the other. I'm slightly inundated by this. How do i move?

New intro
(because that's what you do when you move to a new instance, right?)

I've just moved servers: from a self-hosted mastodon instance to a self-hosted gotosocial instance, everything is a work in progress.

In the meantime, I post in English and/or Dutch about politics (I try to CW), silly household solutions, cross stitch embroidery and patchwork quilting.

It seems most of my online presence is a work in progress (ignoring all previous instructions) while I try to DeBigTech my life.

Anyone with experience for account / instance migration in pixelfed?

I migrated my account from pixelfed.ch to pixelfed.social, everything checked out well, but now after 2 days still have lost all (20) followers (on both instances), and my follows (50) are still on the old instance... Posts also have not migrated (although I did not even expect that would work)...

(already dropped a mail and a dm to their support, still waiting for response)

Dang, the #pixelfed instance I joined recently is shutting down at the end of next month. I was seemingly able to migrate my account to another instance, but that doesn't actually copy over any of my posts or anything. I haven't posted much but it'll be a hassle to manually re-make those posts...

I am seeing spam replies from mastodon.social daily, and I'm sick and tired of reporting bots. Can anyone please recommend me an instance that has blocked mastodon.social? Bonus points if the server is located in Europe. I'm also fine if the main language of the server is German/Spanish/Italian.

Anyone using @mastohost to host their own instance on their own subdomain?

I've been giving zirk(.)us $5/month and MastoHost's solo plan is only $1 more, so it's a very tempting option vs. trying to find a new instance and hoping for the best.

NOTE: I don't have the technical ability nor interest in going full DIY, so no recommendations needed for that angle.

After taking a sabbatical, I returned to find witches.live inaccessible. Apparently, it's been down for about as long I've been gone, with no notice to its members, and no sign that it'll ever re-awaken. Lucky for me, I had little presence there. But for regulars, losing the ability to transfer their accounts must be devastating.

I'm here now... wearier of niche servers.

So... I'm wanting to move instances back to mastodon.gamedev.place
However, when I try to create an alias from there back to this account I get the error "could not be found".

I'm guessing this is some issue with the fork of calckey my current instance uses?

I'm a bit concerned that this issue will force me semi-start over.
What are my options? Are there any workarounds?
