Yesterday I visited with a friend of mine who has harvested *multiple* ripe jackfruit. We processed the biggest, ripest one, and I got to take home soooo much jackfruit 😋

Jackfruit is a food of plenty. It's very family- and village-oriented. Processing it is a group affair (children can help too). You can eat the fruit as you go, which makes it fun. And when you're done, you have way more than you can possibly eat on your own, so you have to share. A true food of plenty 🤌💖

Fun fact, they also save the seeds, pressure cook them, and turn them into hummus, which i didn't know was an option.

Als ich mich vor 3 Jahren aufmachte, #vegan zu werden, konnte ich nichts mit #Tofu anfangen. Diese blassen, gummiartigen Würfel erschienen mir nicht appetitlich.

Es gab aber zum Glück viele leckere Eiweiß- bzw. Fleischalternativen. Deshalb griff ich vorwiegend dort zu und probierte auch #Jackfruit, #Sojaschnetzel etc.

Und dann entdeckte ich Räuchertofu und gab ihm eine Chance.

Und nun steht der in verschiedenen Variationen rglm. auf dem Speiseplan.

Richtig zubereitet ist der einfach lecker 🤷

An der #Löwenbastion gibts #GoVegan HotDogs mit diversem Belag, ich hatte Sauerkraut, Röstzwiebel, Ketchup und Senf und fand ihn sehr lecker. 6€

Daneben gab es einen rein #Veganen FoodTrailer mit #Jackfruit Leckereien, Smashburgern, Burittos, Fritten inkl. Topping und co.

Der #Burger hat nicht wirklich an einen Burger erinnert, war aber mega lecker. 12€

Als Getränk gab es #Bier vom Fass als Radler. 4€

Jackfruit is evil. The smell and taste of it has contaminated one of my food containers. Despite washing it and soaking it in baking soda several times and leaving it to air out a few days, the leftovers I put in that container taste like jackfruit. I think I'm going to have to throw the whole container away and buy a new one. I still smell it every time I open the refrigerator. I didn't realize jackfruit was a pervasive, ever growing font of corruption.

I bought a jackfruit for the first time to try and didn't like it at all. At first it wasn't too bad but as time went on the aftertaste got worse and worse. I'm not sure if it was a problem with that particular one or if they all taste like that but I'm not going to be buying any more of them. Fortunately my parents liked it so it won't go to waste.
