New episode online! I harvest the rest of the spinach, a giant amount of corn salad, and then take you along as I tackle the bad-weather tasks that were getting urgent because there was no bad weather.

Harvested some young nettles in the garden yesterday along with some purple dead nettles. Sautéed that up with some butter, salt, and pepper, and served it from a bread experiment I bought yesterday. Local farmer was trying out a new wholewheat flour type, and I happened by the shop at just the right time. Eat those weeds.

October is the perfect time to start harvesting celeriac! This knobby root vegetable has a subtle celery flavor with a starchy, potato-like texture. Roast, mash, or add to soups for a delicious fall dish. #HarvestSeason #Celeriac #GardenToTable

We enjoyed the side dish of the freshest luffa gourd tonight.
The main entree is northern white bean sauce with garden veggies over jasmine rice and some boiled green beans from my plot. The vegetable soup features the bittermelon from the plot as well.

we eat well sometimes* 😉

(*like, every day 😁)

my dinner on the placemat, as described in the main post. A glass of lemon water and the little porcelain bunny hashi-oki are also on the placemat.

Sliced and boiled in lightly sea-salted water for 3 minutes. Tasted one plain, then seasoned with homemade lemon ponzu.
Luffa gourd tastes like cucumber with a hint of kelp. I like it. 😋👍

A fellow gardener gave us a luffa gourd, and told us how to eat it.

The teaspoon for scale.

*This vegetable would definitely freak out a cat* 👀😹😂

This was my first year growing Metallica Tomatoes from the Dwarf Tomato Project. They grow approx 3ft tall but deliver yields like larger cultivars so they're a wonderful choice for smaller spaces.

Metallica is a pink tomato with green stripes, tangy-slightly sweet, 4-16 oz.

I'll definitely grow Metallica Tomatoes again next year.

I grow food year-round; this is one of our mini-harvests from July.

From our garden: assorted tomatoes and Napolitano basil for Caprese salad plus mint for herbal iced tea. The corn was a generous gift from a friend’s garden; I roasted it in butter with Tajín.

The forecast keeps changing. It rained while I gardened, and the garden house got some attention while I waited for the downpour to stop. Afterward, I got a lot of little harvests from my garden. Dinner was Knödel (dumpling) with my own sourdough bread, onions we grew, my third cucumber, the peas and beans, and a side of sauteed nettles from my garden. A good day!

PS: It might have taken me longer to write the than the actual post.

A small harvest on grass in various containers. Two bare feet are just visible next to them. Keen eyes would spot the corner of a beer bottle (for slugs). A cucumber and a few tomatoes on a white cotton bag. Small orange pumpkin. Pink plastic sieve with lemon balm, thyme and lavender. Square plastic container (ice cream, maybe?) with nettles. Same kind of plastic container with the beans from the other photos and the unshelled peas.Seven purple beans next to a bowl with a small amount of peas (not even a cup) on a wooden countertop.Plate with the food described in the post held by a person with a tattoo on her wrist. In the background are plants on a balcony.
